Because you were created by the same God who created the Olympic Mountains in the rain forest. The Lord of Host says heaven and earth may pass away but His Word would never pass.
There was a man in the Bible who had numerous possessions and he was going to build a barn the next morning to put everything in for safe keeping. The Lord said you fool, your soul is required of thee tonight.

Oooh, I used to go camping around there when I was kid - lovely place.
I agree with the answer that it can apply to you as much as you let it, or like it too. Even though I don't live amongst sand dunes, I know enough about deserts to get the analogies - it's not that difficult.

The idea of a Creator God who loves has universal application. Love, integrity, honesty, kindess, righteousness; these are not just needed in the desert, but in the mountains and everywhere else as well.
