thanking them for respecting our laws, and then send the ILLEGAL ones home with a bill for the money and all other non-economic externalities that they have cost us?

robbiecanadian- I didn't really appreciate your comment. Thanks though for expressing your opinion. I don't feel a need to apologize for my country but I will agree that we need to abandon this globalization mess and start minding our own business (a topic for a whole different discussion).

For you other hecklers, when will you learn that race will continue to be an issue until you guys stop making it an issue. The only racists that I know personally or hear anything about are the ones that are crying "racism!" and "white oppression!".

This question has nothing to do with race and everything to do with respecting a nation's laws and the wishes of its citizens.

Why are anti illegal immigrants called racist?

You know, we United State Citizens should invade Mexico and take over. Make every sign in English. Convert “Bank of America” in to an English bank with English ONLY signs. And take all the “labor” jobs that don’t require you to talk to Spanish away from the poor souls who them, but they will pay us less because we don’t speak Spanish. Then when they ask us a question we should just look at them and smile; and go to the convenience store and automatically ask “Do you speak English” (then get laughed at cause they don’t!)
What an uproar Mexico would have about us US citizens, there would be anarchy and riots to send people back to the US!!

But of course the US citizens are wrong for wanting to do the same here!! It makes me laugh…

Some people need to read the question and stay on track.. seems like they answer out of anger.. or personal issues..

Now to answer your question..
No I would not shake the hands of legal immigrants..and send others home...legal or illegal still costs us tax money.. why stop others from coming to this country and working giving their families a better future.. (like all legal citizens too) and work same or harder as citizens to get money to do so.. be snt back to their countries? ....

P.S
mexico is not the only country people migrate from you know?

edit..
some people are just kind of ignorant to this subject and just follow along to what they hear or see in news ..or society.. never been close to any of the spoken situation...think about it

Kudos to the LEGAL immigrants. Send the ILLEGALS back. Tell me YDoncha... how do illegals pay taxes when there are no SSN to pay them to? And how many illegals have jobs that pay cash, so there are no taxes collected? And how about the ENORMOUS burden they place on our health care system and city infrastructure? Sure they pay some sales taxes, but hey manage to skirt all the laws. And the reason that those jobs pay so low is BECAUSE they are illegal and keep the wages low. Sure produce would cost more, but it would be a small price to pay to relieve taxpayers of the cost of supporting people that don't give back, and although the question is not about race, that portion of people that don't even have the decency to learn our language! My people had to learn it, they didn't get any free passes or have idiots stumbling all over their bleeding-hearts to accommodate them. They earned their place in this country - LEGALLY.

We have a program in this country to bring in guest worker LEGALLY, but too many immigrants don't want to play by the books. So they depress the wages for the LEGAL ones and create a climate of distrust and suspicion for ALL immigrants. My Great Grandmother came here in the early 1900's and forged a life for her descendants without any help and w/o anyone having to learn her language. Why shouldn't current immigrants have to do the same?

Not particularly.

I would prefer NOT to shake the hands of Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi who were granted Visas and therefore were LEGAL immigrants.

For those of you still unaware, they were two of the men involved in the 9-11 Hijackings.

Still think "legal" is "good" and "illegal" is "bad"??????

mikea_va - and fly planes into the World Trade Center?????? Some example.......

"So many people think that those of us that are against illegal immigration are racist or hate all immigrants. "
"The only racists that I know personally or hear anything about are the ones that are crying "racism!" and "white oppression!".

I do not think.I am absolutely positive only white Americans are racists. They do not hate all immigrants. They like the white ones.If they have money that is even better because they are good people.
If a person does not personally see racism then it did not happen.I am glad we have people come on this site and tell me what has happened in my life.

I agree with you 100%

Illegals do not respect American laws, American citizens or the American way of life.

Why can't illegals take an example of legal immigrants??????????????

I agree! So many people think that those of us that are against illegal immigration are racist or hate all immigrants.

We just don't like people breaking our laws! If you or I broke a law we would be punished - why aren't those that come into our country illegally?

Just this week a 14 year old illegal immigrant from Mexico (here less than 3 weeks) attempted to rape and DID cut the throat of a young woman - luckily she was able to run to help and is in stabilized condition.
