I have a border collie/pit bull mix puppy. He is extremly friendly dog. He loves people. He wants to walk up to everyone he sees .
I got him neutered 3 weeks ago. I was told that this may help calm him down but it seems like it got worse. He can't sit still, always jumping on people, trying to run after people. I mean he was pretty hyper before but now its crazy how big of change.
Do you think the neutering do this to him or is this what I will have to deal with for the next couple of years??
I wanted to start puppy training classes months ago but I've got a roomate who I want to be at the training sessions and we had schedule conflicts. We are going to start the classes this month though. I don't know if hes going to be able to sit still enough to allow either of us to learn.
I give him about 2 hours of excercise a day walking and chasing each other outside every day. He probably gives himself an additional 2 hours running around the house.

he knows sit, stay, how to shake, speak, roll over, down, he goes and sits by the door when he need to go to the bathroom. but all that goes out the window when he sees a person.

The vet was the one who suggested 2 hours of exercise on some kind of soft surface. He is a runner. There no stopping him unless he is in his kennel. I don't want to put him in his kennel to make seem like I'm punishing him for being excited.
Every visit with another vet he pushed on us to use a non-retractable leash and pretty much choke him if he starts to get excited ands starts pulling to make him for disciplined. I didn't find that effective. So he’s kept on a retractable leash whenever outside so he can't run that fast.
