I was thinking of getting "dream as if you'll live forever" on the back of my upper left arm, and "live as if you'll die today" on the back of my right arm. good/ bad idea?
no haters answer please. not a question of opinion on tattoos in general.

yeah I was thinking it would be a little cliche.

I'm not a big phrase fan....but I like these phrases and I like the location. If it makes you happy then I say go for it dude.

(I would do it in red ink though....just to be different)

I think that it's an original idea. I don't know about the back of the arms though. If you don't want it advertised that you have tattoos, it's a great place since you can hide it easily. If you actually want it seen, I would look for a different place. Since it's such a long saying then it's a really good idea that you split it. Personally I would put it on my shoulder blades. More room and easier to hide.

Ghandi, right? That's a pretty intelligent idea. My sister got a phrase tattoo, but instead of letting them draw it, she drew it (you don't have to be an amazing artist) and they were able to transfer it to be traced on her back. That way, the tattoo would meet all her requirements. If you really don't think that you could draw it just how you want it, get a friend who can. Tattoos are an expressive body art, you wouldn't want someone else's art on your back, right? Good luck!

i like the idea but it may be too much lettering to fit on the back of your upper arms and you don't want to make the lettering too small. it would be easier to do if you pick one word like "dream" and "live". that is my advice. best of luck to you and your tattoo.

If that is your idea and it is what you want, I say go for it. The people who just get a tattoo to get one are the one's that I can't stand. Body art is a great way to express yourself and this is a good example.

if that is something you want then go for it. it's not something i'd get but i'm just not big on word tattoos. i like pictures and stuff better. lots of people have tattoos that have a similar theme as the one you are talking about getting.

seems to complicated.
I say take the concept to your artist and see what sort of image he works up
I am always more for images than words.
just me
that phrase could be a stunning tattoo
Perhaps a two hands, one holding dreams the other reaching for the sunrise.

I always say, get something that means something to you. If it means something to you, like its a saying you've held dear to your heart for a long time, go for it. But if its just a fleeting thing that you've heard once or twice and thought it was cool, then you might want to pass.

Then again, there are people who just get anything tattooed on themselves.

I have my ex-fiancee's name in Hebrew on my left bicep. We all have our things :)

hmmm I am not much for words as tats...I think that since a tat is more for myself than for others I would get with my tattoo artist and go with these saying and create a symbol or a tattoo of an event or events that symbolize what these sayings mean to you.

its a really good message and i think you should do it, but you should incorperate some sort of meaningful image into it, personally with any tattoo it should have lots of meaning, even if it doesn't make sense to the rest of the world, but i love that idea.
