Yes, it's called a body perm. The larger the rollers, the looser the curl. However, even if your stylist doesn't mention it, body perms do not last as long as perms with small rollers. Your hair will still have a little texture to it until it's cut off, but the curl tends to loosen up in 6 to 8 weeks. In my opinion, body perms are the way to go. It will add fullness, and if you decide to touch it up with a curling iron to make it curlier for a night, the curl will hold better. Plus, the curls will be loose enough so you still have the option of styling it straight every once in a while. By the way, a spiral perm is not the same as a body perm.

The last perm I had done I insisted they use the biggest rollers they had in the salon for perming, prior to that most of my perms gave me the poodle look.
They argued that it wouldn't last long at all with my hair being long and heavy, I told them to go ahead anyway.
It looked great and my hair responded well, after three months my hair still had bounce, I was very pleased with the results. Good luck.

I did this with a home perm kit - you just need to use larger rollers - but i recommend that you are doing it at home that you test where you think the rollers should go to get the shape right first in case you do it in a perm and then cannot alter it !
Good Luck !

Unless you want to look like a poodle, i say go for it! Permed hair is so out of style! If you want to make it curly use hot rollers in the morning.

If you want a loose curl perm, you need to use BIG rollers.

ASK FOR A "LOOSE END PERM". THIS IS QUITE NEW SO DON'T GO TO AN OLD FARTS SALON.
