Why do men lie even after they get caught?

I lied to my ex fiance about 1 thing, a very dirty nightmare i had, I said i didnt know if it was real or not, then when i was drunk, i said i thought it to be real, if you've ever had a reoccuring nightmare, you can't really tell the difference between reality and dreams... It's all so real to you, and your almost forced to believe, well insodently the same girl i had the Nightmare about, i was also indecent to at an early time in both her and I's live's. She asked me twice about the nightmare and the second time i said i didn't know weather it was real or not.... and i also told her the rest of the story. So i had to go back and ask my theropist about this. and she gave me the story again. So i told her exactly what the theropist told me. and she still broke off the engagment.

We sometimes lie to make ourselves and the other party feel better. However we don't feel any better about telling a lie... this is human nature, people do it every day. You have done it, i have done it, we have all done it.

People, unless they are lying about somthing that directly effects your well being, remember that we are human's, we don't always do everything right. but what we do wrong we try and fix as best we can.

First off ladies I want to point out that the question was intended for men (no offense)

But what one of the commentors said was right it isnt because of an alter ego is something that is human. It's just like as a child when you get caught with a cookie in your hand that you know youre not supposed to have. You lie to get out of trouble.

I think both women and men do it, it's depends on how sha
meless is this person and the way this person figures you are.

Maybe, some time ago, this person cheat on you then tell you a "credible story" that you believe is true or logical and finally you forgot it's happen.

So, the image this person have about you is you are the kind of people who are "easy to convince", so next time he/she do something wrong and will know he/she can make you trust him or her with a simple story even you prove he/she cheat on you, because after the storyb you will understand and will remain calm.

my ex used to tell me "take it to the grave!!" men and women both lie. just, women are better at it. i look at it like this: if i go somewhere, and i tell me boyfriend where i went and what i did, its because i want him to know. if i dont tell him, and he has to ask me where i was, then i must NOT want him to know. if he has to ask me, it just means i was up to no good and im just going to lie. im pretty sure thats how guys think too. i might tell him the story, but peoples names and locations will change so i dont get my story mixed up. i know that if a guy gets an offer, and his girl isnt there, theres no reason why he should refuse. or thats how they see it. so women should be the same.

I dont think that will ever be answered. My soon to be ex-husband swore he didnt cheat but the other chic got pregnant and he still swore that he wasnt sleeping with her and i made him get a dna test and sure enough it was his baby so he just moved on with the lie telling me we werent together when he was with her.

I think it has nothing to do with being a man, it has something to do with being human. We will all lie to the last minute if it means we will not get caught or get the ramifications of our actions.

they lie because they are weak. They dont want to admit they are wrong or screwed up. It's their own insecurities.

yeah...they always think that they can persuade u to follow their lie and not the truth. they're to prideful and errogant. and i wonder why we like men so much lol :)
