Why don't people get it. Heck, why don't goverments regulate it. When there is such a problem is global warming, why doesn't enforce stricter stipulations when manufacturing car's , building polution, water polution etc... I feel they are not putting enough pressure. We realize that we have created a mess why doesn't everyone focus on making things better or slow down the process of global warning. Why can't we just boycott things that will cause damage to our ONE AND ONLY EARTH?

The sun has not caused it, it is the damage we have caused to our ozone layer.

I agree, why wont people listen?!?!?!
Al Gore presented his slide show on capitol hill and they practically laughed in his face, ignored the whole thing and mostly changed the subject away from global warming.
the reason the government doesn't do anything is because
it is in their interest to keep the big companies happy.
Its all about money, and the people who dont care about this are killing the rest of us who do!!!
how can all you people that just answered be so IGNORANT!!! GET INFORMED!!!!
and why would anyone make this up?

Read some of the other posts, and you'll understand the ignorance that's out there.
BTW, it's not because of the ozone layer. It's because of CO2. The ozone layer was a problem with UV radiation, but, thanks to action, the Ozone layer has largely repaired itself. You know, I bet there were ignorant disbelievers that THAT was a problem too.
The reason nothing gets done is because the people in power to get something done are greedy. If we can make environmental responsibility profitable, you bet everyone will jump on the bandwagon. For now, burning fossil fuels and deforestation are big business. We're killing ourselves from every side.
To all the completely ignorant posters who spew rhetoric:
Why do you care about mars? We don't have to exist there.
Historically, (scientifically studied), the earth's CO2 content fell within a pretty standard range...it went up, it went down. Core drilling has shown this cycle to date back 100s of thousands of years. Only Since the 1900s have the measurements broken the upper boundaries of that cycle and continued to climb, in extreme difference from the historical cycle.
It's basic science that CO2 creates insulative properties, so I'm not going to waste my time on that. Those of you in denial and wallowing in your ignorance won't be swayed anyway. It doesn't take much brains to connect the dots to see the accelerated production of CO2 from industrialization, combines with global deforestation (trees turn CO2 back into O2), are combining to cause this warming trend.
In the end, yes, we'll cycle back to an ice age, once the temps get high enough, and melt the polar caps, and stop the atlantic flow, and flood the coastlines all over the world, a mini ice age will occur. It's happened before.
I recommend all you ignorant fools wait at the coastlines to welcome the rising tide...
What I don't get...is if we all become more careful in how we treat the environment, and cut back on fossil fuels and emission and gas guzzlers, and we reduce CO2, WHAT'S IT GOING TO HURT? Cleaner air and MAYBE, we head off a disaster. If we continue in our irresponsible ways, and global warming wipes us out, what do we say? Ooops?

Reading the popular media can lead a person to conclude that "global warming" is:
o- either a hoax to promote business opportunities, politicians agenda and scientists grant money.....
OR
o- a problem related to overpopulation, industrialization and fossil fuels whose solution options lie in solar power, wind power, geothermal power and nuclear fusion....
However, the correct answer may be altogether different:
NASA has released never-before-seen images that show the sun's magnetic field is much more turbulent and dynamic than previously known. The international spacecraft Hinode, formerly known as Solar B, took the images. Hinode was launched Sept. 23 to study the sun's magnetic field and its explosive energy. National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists said the spacecraft's uninterrupted high-resolution observations of the sun are expected to have an impact on solar physics comparable to the Hubble Space Telescope's impact on astronomy. "For the first time, we are now able to make out tiny granules of hot gas that rise and fall in the sun's magnetized atmosphere," said Dick Fisher, director of NASA's Heliophyics Division. "These images will open a new era of study on some of the sun's processes that effect Earth, astronauts, orbiting satellites and the solar system." Hinode is a collaborative mission led by
the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and includes the European Space Agency and Britain's Particle Physics Astronomy Research
Council. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., managed the development of the Hinode's scientific instrumentation provided by industry and federal agencies.
>>> as regards alternative energy methods, I favor development of the technology for nuclear fusion using lunar Helium 3

I question the logic that they use to come to the conclusion that increasing CO2 from 300 to 383 ppm would cause any measurable increase in global average temperature. Evidence from antarctic ice shows a correlation between CO2 % in the atmosphere and temperature. But it is illogical to conclude from a correlation that one causes the other.
The variations in the earth's orbit can account for variations in temperature that resulted in the ice ages. These ice age cycles have been coming and going long before man appeared on the scene.
The content of CO2 in the atmosphere has declined very significantly over the last 100 million years.

Pls. don't let these people brain wash u like that. There is nothing wrong with the ozone layer if it were the radiation would be killing u. The earth is doing fine and u haven't tried to persuade the 1 billion Moslem's who want to kill u. Then that 1 billion Chinese that don't like u. Then there is the 1 billion Indians. We are such a small amount of people what we do makes no difference.

People don't get it because certain people (like Rush Limbaugh) decided that anthropogenic global warming theory didn't fit their particular, limited world view, and are thus dedicated to spreading as much misinformation about it as they possibly can.
First off, solar forcing is well understood and fully accounted for in current models. The new IPCC report attributes approximately .12 w/m^2 of the current warming to an increase in solar activity, and very few actual scientists dispute this data.
Second, the people claiming that Mars is also experiencing GW have obviously not done their homework. Once again, the warming on Mars' southern ice cap is fully understood and already accounted for in current models.
You see, a year on mars last approximately 2 Earth years. This means that it is currently late winter in Mars' northern hemisphere, and, of course, early summer in the south. Which means that the current warming on Mars is attributable to the fact that it is CURRENTLY LATE SPRING THERE.

If anyone has any more objections to the theory (scientific, not political. I simply refuse to acknowledge any more conspiracy theories from Rush Limbaugh's minions), feel free to message me with them and I'll do my best to clear them up for you.

If you feel so strong, start working on it yourself. Don't drive, don't cool or heat your home and most definitely get off your computer. It's all producing greenhouse gasses.
