Hey, Im 24 from canada, and i have depression. My last job was miserable, i would sit in a truck all day waiting for people to get hurt, long hours and no life, did that for 2 years. Right now I live with my boyfriend "ryan" of one year. Things arent that great with him, ive lived in this town my whole life and i am feeling the need to spread my wings...but im scared too. Why i dont know, but im more so worried about getting another job and a place to live in, i recently declared bankrutcy also, so im starting all from scratch. Im wondering though if these feelings of wanting to move is from the depression or are they real feelings and i should just go for it, leave my current bf and life to start another...this town is small and everyone knows everyone, i just feel like i need to try something new, im at my wits end, but i dont want to regret it, have any of you moved and it changed your life for the better?..or worse even

Please try to keep in mind that you only take your problems with you, if you relocate elsewhere. One needs to work on the problems they have, where they are. You probably are correct about your self-diagnosis of depression, for it has many forms. Please contact a professional for help.

Good luck!

You should come live in Australia with me and my friends we'll have a great time, it's always sunny, and the beach is nearby.lol. just joks Sometimes it is depressing living in the same old place with the same old people, you know what u can always come back if u decide to leave. I'm attached to my little comfort zone here but i'll move on soon and if i don't like it i can always come back. It doesn't sound like you have a great deal of enthusiasm for ur bf, but u don't want to end up on the streets either so make sure you got enough moey before/or if u leave. U can always come and visit Australia u can stay with us. Have fun whatever you do, lifes what u make of it so once uve gathered up the courage get out of there.Be careful though a young girl by herself isn't safe to be walkin round at night lookin for a place to stay. all the best.

Yes! When I was 21 I moved from a japanese intern camp and it was great... No more soldiers with guns following me around, no more food rations or random rapings. It was so great. Damn you WWII, you took so much of my life, but without it I could not have know what it was like to truely live.

Depression is a joke... do you get regular excersize? Do you interact with freinds on at least a weekly basis? If not the depression is your own fault. You can go where ever you want and do whatever you chose but unless you change your lifestyle you are always going to feel like poo. Also, why would you trust a bunch of strangers on the internet to give you advice about major life changing decisions? That is just dim.

If you want my vote... I say move, declare bankruptcy again, every year for the rest of your life, have a string of unprotected one night stands, and abort any of the consequences.

hope you get it figured out... Good Luck.

I've lived in my small town for my all 21 years and I must say it's getting old too. In your case, I think that moving will probably do you some good. If your relationship with your boyfriend is rocky you should either:

Try to change it and work things out...
Or
Leave.

It's that simple.

Good luck!

When I was depressed, I felt like moving too. I knew that would make it worse. I would still be depressed and by moving, I would be depressed and in an unfamiliar place. Take care of your depression first and then if you still want to move, go for it.

Good luck to you.
