As you are growing if you drink flouridated water (city water, soda, juice drinks, e.g...) it incorporates in your growing bones and developing teeth. The flouride ion incorporates into the bone by replacing some (not all) of the Calcium in hydroxyapitite and creates flouro-hydroxyapitite. This makes your the surface of your teeth less susceptable to bacteria that promote decay. The bones in your body are constantly remodeling, so if you stop drinking flouridated water, the flouride will eventually work its way out of your body. It will never work its way out of your teeth.

Fluoride is a natural mineral. I is part of not only your teeth but your bones and many other systems as well. It is found naturally even in alot of well water and bottled water. If you are worrried about getting too much, which can happen and then it becomes an issue. You should have your water tested and only drink distilled water. You can always have your bodily level measured as well to see where you are at.

Good question. I don't know, but I'm glad you're doing that. Fouride is WAY bad for you supposedly, poison. Messes with the brain. And some have even told me it just makes your teeth very hard and gives them hairline cracks. Who knows. I buy non-flouride toothpaste and NEVER get it at the dentist.

That's my 2 cents :o)
