I have found a very interesting site: http://www.fixedearth.com/

It says that the earth does not move and the sun rotates around the earth (once a day). The bible is proof of that, according to the site. Since I do not know the bible very well, I would like to know what bible experts think about that.

Edit: Sorry if I mixed up rotate and revolve. English is not my native language.

Bible writers often speak from the standpoint of the observer on the earth, or from his particular position geographically, as we often naturally do today. For example, the Bible mentions “the sunrising.” (Nu 2:3; 34:15) Some have seized upon this as an opportunity to discredit the Bible as scientifically inaccurate, claiming that the Hebrews viewed earth as the center of things, with the sun revolving around it. But the Bible writers nowhere expressed such a belief. These same critics overlook the fact that they themselves use the identical expression and that it is in all of their almanacs. It is common to hear someone say, ‘it is sunrise,’ or ‘the sun has set,’ or ‘the sun traveled across the sky.’ The Bible also speaks of “the extremity of the earth” (Ps 46:9), “the ends of the earth” (Ps 22:27), “the four extremities of the earth” (Isa 11:12), “the four corners of the earth,” and “the four winds of the earth” (Re 7:1). These expressions cannot be taken to prove that the Hebrews understood the earth to be square. The number four is often used to denote that which is fully rounded out, as it were, just as we have four directions and sometimes employ the expressions “to the ends of the earth,” “to the four corners of the earth,” in the sense of embracing all the earth.—Compare Eze 1:15-17; Lu 13:29

Well the story of Genesis in the old testament covers creation at the point where God is on Earth. So unfortunately, the universe and the planet itself remains kind of a mystery as it's not written in.

The various other passages quoted by fixedearth.com. Could be misinterpretations of the orginal meaning. Since the bible is an translation and thousands of years old.

Although from a philosophical point of view. It is possible to conceive that Earth is stationary, but the universe is rotating but we can't tell because we're rotating with it.

Since you're already looking into God and astronomy, this link might be of interest for you. It however, does not address the stationary earth theory either.

there are a marvelous type of chronological discrepancies confronted interior the bible, that this one looks quite minor. What on the subject of the thought the bible places the earth at around 12,000 years old? If the earth have been rotating swifter, or ability of measuring time back then made years shorter than theye at the instant are, then that 12,000 may be dwindled better. i do no longer mean to disrespect every physique's fee equipment, yet I only locate that impossible to purchase. check out it this way; bypass the bible directly to any historian and notice what they, finding at it as a expert, make of it as a literal account of what befell. I dont think of theye will supply it too lots mileage

The only thing that comes close in the bible to earth/sun rotation is: God made the sun stand still for Joshua at the battle of Jericho.

Psalm 19

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

I understand this verse to mean that SUN is a tabernacle or fixed object and Gods created planets make a circuit around that tabernacle to receive the heat thereof.

if you read Isa. 40:22 in the bible...you will see it says earth is a sphere...much much earlier than columbus discovery.

and before modern scientist knew about our rotation around the sun and the universe...in Job 26:7 it says that the earth is "hanging upon nothing" cool huh?

in contrary to atheist saying, bible and science does not conflict on each other. there are scientific support to the existence of God. who else will give these information to people with no technology that time.

The Earth does not rotate around the Sun. The Earth orbits the Sun.

Being a follower of YHWH (G_D), the site is bogus. I do not believe in "evolution" as in soup to fish to bird to ape to man, but evolution within a species, sure (dog, dingo, wolf, coyote).

Since there are many versions of Bibles out there it can get confusing, but one must always return to the real word and use Greek and Strongs dictionary to normally figure out the exact truth.

I dug a little and found a simple flaw they are using. When G_D talks about earth, HE flat up says Earth. When He says World, He is talking about all those that are within it, the land, water, etc.

So there first claim, Psalm 93:1 is in error. For it states in true hebrew scriptures as:

93:1 YHWH reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; YHWH is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

It clearly says "world" here, not earth.

And their second claim of Job 26:7 goes as:

26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

This clearly shows He is talking about the earth is hung in space, in nothing, it floats, nothing holds it up. This in no way means its solid or not moving.

That is the problem today with religion, so many lies out there and miss truths passed on that the truth has become clouded.

The Catholic Church finally said that the guy was right.
The Earth rotates around the Sun.
It took them a long time to come to that.
Why?
It comes against what is said of the Pope as being absolutely correct.
The doctrine of excathedra.
He said the opposite, now he is proved wrong. Oh Oh survey says there is a problem.
