Quit trying and it will happen. Another good idea is to ask the Lord for a compatible mate. We always think of the Lord last and He should be first.

Well, I am sure there are a lot of people in the same situation as you are now. It is so hard sometimes to forget the things that happened to you in the past and expect something different with someone else feeling that somewhere down the line that you are just going to be treated like everyone else. I know you may heard the saying don't wear your heart on your shoulders and you shouldn't. This is a giveaway that you are sensitive sometimes and you have a lot of expectations. Falling in love does not come over night. But before you even get into a relationship find securities within yourself, so that when you do get in a relationship there won't be insecurities. To me this is a big part of a relationship. Make sure that you understand what love is and don't have too many expectations meaning: looks, money, and most of all don't compare. Be yourself and surprisingly you will find yourself in love and it won't take much and you will see that everyone is not all bad!

LOL, relationships.... think of it this way, Your boarding a sinking ship... You know its going to sink so why get on it? What if every plesure and pain and struggle and a lifetime of stories were on that sinking ship? would you still get on? i know i would. Love is a bond you share with someone, love is somthing that doesn't come around when your looking for it, It's laughing, its crying, its pain, its loss, its sarrow, its plesure, its happiness. The best way to fall in love is to not think about falling in love, to not give in to falling in love. but rather just let it happen, you don't need to close your heart at 23, have some compation and some sympothy for people, you'll find it to be the greatest plesure in the world.

Honey, you don't 'fall' in love, you 'grow' in love with that special someone. There's no special recipe for love, but just pray. Ask God to help heal your heart so that you can be mentally and emotionally prepared when your knight in shining armor comes into your life. Many people hurt the man/woman of their dreams simply because they have not let go of past hurts. Drop your emotional baggage before entering a new relationship and be sure not to hold your new partner accountable for Joe Blow or Jimmy Bob's mistakes.

i was in the same boat... 23, and too afraid to fall in love because of my past relationship... but really, there is no way to tell you how to fall in love... you just do.
thats why you 'fall' in love... it happens.
for a year i've just been dating random girls, and just sleeping around, staying clear from any emotional connection. new years, i hooked up with a girl, i liked her... and i told her what happened to me before, and she was understanding... so we made it a fling... then we kept seeing each other, so it turned to 'seeing each other'... then i took her out on a couple of dates, and it turned to 'dating'... and all this time i was terrified cause i liked her so much... and i had my defences high... but then, i let go of my fears, and realized that i love her... after 4 months i just realized.
so yea... dont look for it, just enjoy your life, enjoy being you being free... one day someone will come in your life and It just happens, and love... its a risk, you put your heart in the line and trust the other person not to hurt it... even if they do, thats part of the experience.
good luck :)

You have to let go of the past and let the wall down. I too have had many disappointments but learned that I could either dwell on them or move on. Just because someone dissappointed you does not mean everyone will. One day..the right person will be right in front of your face and you will let it go just because of your past. Don't do it...you might be passing up the one love of your life.
