I use Office 2003 at home. I'd like to upgrade to 2007, but it's a bit pricy. Is it OK to get the teacher version, as long as I'm not using the software to make money? How can they tell if you are a teacher or student? Thanks!

The Teacher and Student version is just a bit more basic compared to a full office version.....it doesnt mean you have to be a teacher or student...its like xp home and xp pro.....one is basic, and the other is more elaborate....

Teacher edition only comes with
Excel
Power Point
Outlook
Word

Yes it is OK to use the home and students version. I use it.

Microsoft now calls it "Office Home and Student 2007"
You can't upgrade the home and students version but it costs less than an upgrade. Plus it can be used by 3PCs in a household.

Microsoft 2007 is yet another step in a descending staircase. not one of the human beings who layout microsoft place of work products have this type of jobs that their shoppers do, and that they tailor each and each new version to grant 'eye candy' for their salesmen to instruct off. in case you prefer spreadsheets and a be conscious processor and a mail shopper, not something has more desirable on account that place of work 2000. The mail shopper has easily have been given worse, and Excel replaced into purely as solid in place of work ninety 8. be conscious 2007 isn't as sensible a device in a rushed busy place of work as its predecessors, and the type of finance/admin/shopper provider clerks who might desire to apply 'powerpoint' or 'frontpage' for the duration of the direction of a working 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is a proportion someplace around 0. Get Open place of work, because of the fact that is extra effective via some distance. -

they can't really tell....but i have used both 2003 and 2007...i went back to 2003, 07 is ok and i like the interface but it used a lot more space and memory to run it, unless you are having issues with 2003 i would stick with it

but to your question, sometimes they check student id cards, that sort of thing, sometimes they don't
