I snuck my cat into a place that didn't allow pets, and it was not worth it! We were constantly worried about getting caught. The poor thing was never allowed to look out the window, and it seemed like everytime I went to the store for cat food, I would run into the maintenance man or one of the people who worked in the office, and they would look in my cart and wonder why I had a huge bag of cat food in there. They also spotted me dragging large bags of used litter to the dumpster. The worst was when I needed to get my washer fixed and the cat was sticking his paw out from under the door of the room where I was hiding him. I was busted. All in all, the situation was stressful and not really fair to the cat. Even if your cat is not one to jump in windows, the poor thing will eventually want a little sunshine, and you'll have to pull her away and its just plain sad. I know its hard to find an affordable apartment, especially since the ones who do accept pets usually add on extra pet rent, but don't give up! There are decent, affordable places that will take you and all the special members of your family.

Keep looking. Perhaps you could find a room for rent
that will allow pets. Otherwise, leave kitty with
your parents but visit often so she won't forget you. You could always take the apartment until you
find something better. Or rent a house with some friends and then bring kitty home.

If you're able to, I would wait and save up for an apartment that will allow pets. It's pricier yes, but at least you won't have to worry about smuggling the cat in. I couldn't leave my kitty behind, even if it was being cared for by my parents. I would miss her too much.

NOT a good idea. My best friend decided to try this and while she was at work their ended up being a bad water leak to do someones water heating busting or something like that and the fix it guys let themselves into her apartment with no prior warning and out went her cat never to be found.

you just have to priorities which you want more, the cat or the apartment, or just keep locking and hopefully something will come up. its never a good idea to try to sneak a pet in a no pet allowed apartment.

Maybe you could ask if they would allow your cat if you put down a pet deposit ($250). Some landlords of smaller apartment complexes are willing to do that. The larger ones I don't think are quite so flexible.

Good luck! I would hate to leave my babies behind too!

It depends... if I were you Id try to sneak the cat in. Just make sure you clean up really well after her and everything. If the 'apartments' find out.. they may make you either get rid of the cat, or make you leave. It all depends on how strict the rules are. Best of luck!

If they don't allow your pet then they aren't perfect. Keep looking for another place. If you have to settle and get one of these, don't risk sneaking your cat in. A lot of apartments have regular maintenance and you'd have to stash her every time you left. Not fair to her or you.
If you got caught you could get kicked out, lose your deposit, damage your credit, and find it harder to get another place. When you put in your tenant application, they usually request your previous references, and if they learn that you left your last place because you failed to follow their rules, chances are they won't be willing to take a risk on you.

Well it could depend on where you live. Most Ontario
landlords cannot legally tell tenants that they are not allowed pets.
The ruling was passed a couple of years ago. You could always check anonymously.
Truthfully I would never leave my cats behind and I live in a rental unit. If you are clean over your cat and he or she is fixed
I wouldn't say a word!!!
Good Luck
