Explain,.?

The policy is sometimes difficult to enforce, especially when the club is busy and crowded.

I used to manage a bar, a few years ago. The "no glass in the restrooms" policy was in effect for several reasons: one, it was a safety issue. If someone broke some glass (accidentally or not), other people could be hurt.

Second--and this truly was a legitimate concern--sometimes people, in their inebriated condition, would find it funny to shove a glass or a bottle into the toilet! Aside from the sanitation issues, that could cost the club thousands of dollars in plumbing bills.

If I'm at a bar, I'll either finish my drink before I go to the restroom, or I'll have a friend look after it while I'm away. And I'm not sure I'd really want to put down my glass (or bottle) on ANY surface in a restroom, anyway.

As far as completely abolishing all glass...it probably wouldn't work. That would eliminate a wide variety of bottled beers (and other beverages).

Just the thought of bringing anything to eat or drink into a restroom makes my stomach turn! I wouldn't think that anyone would want to bring a drink in the restroom anyway because it's not sanitary. Glass could cut you in the restroom or out of the restroom but I guess there must be higher risk of someone getting hurt with it in the restroom.

Also I think plastic is more santitary to drink out of. I have heard from people that worked in some bars that all they do to "wash" the glasses is have two dishpans; one with soapy water to quickly swish the dirty glass in, and the other dishpan with plain water to rinse the glass in. So I use a straw and never drink straight out of the glass no matter what I drink.
Not sure how this would work with beers but if a club wants to ban glasses go ahead, but if they use the smaller plastic tumblers instead, knock a couple of dollars off of the price of the drink(s)!

This question is "crazy" except for one vivid anecdote (and I need somebody to EXPLAIN!!!)

When I have a drink in a public place, I've never THOUGHT of taking the glass/container with me--the tabletops are bad enough! I'd never take food or drink into a public restroom!

However, at my 20 year high school reunion, there was an episode in which one of the GUYS brought his beer glass with him--and somehow broke it, getting shards of glass stuck in his "cheeks" --and these had to be removed by a fellow classmate (both were very heterosexual). What I marveled at then, as now, is how anyone could accidently SIT on a beer stein. This question implies there is an actual dangerous possibility. Explain?

Come to Canada they have passed a law allowing you to take you drink into the washroom for the first time .They did this so no one would put drugs in your drink when you left your drink to use the john.

I figure just stick with plastice either way. glass gets broken, and it can be dangerous.
