a man he knows as a friendly acquaintance but doesn't know well, and is not buddies with.

The back ground information is basic, There is a couple that seem to have a good relationship she is not model attractive she is overweight, but has some appeal to some men, and is living with one.

This couple goes out regularly and there is a group of people some are friends, some are friends of friends, kind of friendly acquaintances for this reason the group over all gets along well but not everyone knows each other well.

A few weeks ago, one of the men whom the woman in the couple gets along with hit on her, he kept it up for quite a while she walked away twice and twice he came back, flirting and out right saying he wanted to see her and would call her.

She didn't discourage him just kind of avoided the issue thinking he was drunk and didn't really know what he was saying, first question did he just hit on her because he was drunk and she was closest there were other women ?

Living with someone or not, if she isn't married she is not off limits. If she does not want to go out with this other guy, she should tell him.

Men, regardless of practice, are not good at reading women's minds. He might have read her body language or any number of other things and come to an incorrect conclusion about her level of interest.

Give him time, he may yet ask out every woman in the group. Some guys ask every woman available because they know one in ten will say yes.

I'll probably get negative points, but this is the TRUTH of what I would GUESS the reason was.

He wanted to try and have sex with her. That blunt. Sorry. A lot of guys are like that.
