Cerritos Mall, South Coast Plaza, The Grove, The Block, Irvine Spectrum. if you are looking for outlet malls go to Ontario Mills. that is the closest one. 1 hour drive from Long Beach.

Ontario Mills (Ontario, CA) is kind of far from LA for my tastes (I live North of LA) but it is, or used to be, one of the biggest malls around.
The Block at Orange, Irvine Spectrum, and The Grove (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) are really nice, newer outdoor malls. The Grove is a pretty pricey and upper-end (which I personally don't like.) Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica is also another well-done, nice "touristy" shopping center.
I dunno, I just like inside malls better :) My personal favorites are Del Amo Mall in Torrance and The Glendale Galleria in Glendale.
