Hello CheryleM,
(ANS) The actual scientific research carried out in recent years into the dangers & potential risks from mobile phone masts is still divided 50/50.
**The circumstanial health evidence from people who have lived in close proxcimity to mobile masts (within a few hundred feet to a few hundred yards) is quite strong. These people reported ongoing health problems such as disturbed sleep patterns after the mast was installed (were their was no sleep problems before), other health problems from headache's to more serious conditions through to various immune related problems.
**Mobile phone masts (transmitt & receive) signals that operate in the short wave lengths, close to the microwave wave lengths.
**there is the issue of exposure to short wave frequencies and how much over how long a period would cause health problems, its a very complex scientific area indeed.
**Sadly there hasnt been any direct causal link proven that mobile phone masts or mobile phone use can cause health problems. The jury is still out on these issues, but many scientists recommend taking a precautionary approach and avoid both masts & mobile phone use as much as possible.
**Finally, its extremely hard if not impossible for the public to gain access to the actual research carried out on such masts, why? because it's always funded privately and the results have been kept private too (conspiracy of silence I wonder??).

This is still open to discussion. The network companies fitting them say they are completely safe and radio emissions are well within statutory guidelines. On the other hand various anti phone mast groups have produced a lot of data which they consider makes phone masts a hazard. Some local councils will not give planning permission for masts to be erected near schools or children's play areas, whether this is just erring on the side of safety or not I don't know. There have been reports of particular areas with a high concentration of masts quoting above average incidents of various types of cancer. It is extremely difficult to come to any firm decision on this but current thinking is that if in 20 or 30 years time the danger is found to be real are we wrong to try to protect people now rather than wait until it is all too obvious and many may have suffered in the meantime. What have we lost if they prove to be harmless.i

Well mobile phones use microwaves to transmit signals, just like your own microwave at home.
People say that these vibrations can damage your brain in some way, minor vibrations somehow meant to give you brain tumours. This might be possible in high dosages, but one mobile phone is simply not enough.
Also the signals aren't really going to you, their going to the mast, so its above you, even if it was exposed to you its so minimal amounts that it wouldn't really have an effect.

hi yar....th is nothing to worry a lot abt it....usually cell phones r harmful to humans since it emits electromagnetic waves, which is the combination of electrical n magnetic waves.....if u use the mob. frequently , defenitely it vud cause ur body cells a damage it much matters oly if u use it closer..in ur case it is an tower so there wont b considerable side effects on it...though try keep away from it...its better n good to u ........

Well there are no conclusive evidence that support it. But some studies have shown that your at risk for living close to towers that are emitting radio waves.

The radiation could affect your brain... there have been quite a few cases where people have gotten cancer and serious migrains from overusing mobiles... but so far I havent heard anything about them being too close to a mast. If it is a large one from major companies from 'orange'... then it may give you the odd headache. Butr don't worry too much unless it's VERY close :)
