and Why? I can think of 5,6,7 who I (and God) favor; but, I'd like to know yours. As I see that the muslims are posting a lot of stuff about women; we Christians should be addressing one half of the population too.
And God did great and epochal changing things with 'women of the Bible'.
So, I'd kind of like to honor them by: naming them, telling the approximate century they lived in, teaching or explaining 'why' what happened in their lives was great, courageous, atypical or epoch changing; and/or how their faith, courage and actions 'helped' God correct the mess that the evil ones' made of the world; as well as how their actions caused men/women to evolve.
Hint: God gave a female (something???) *Hate to say goddess** about a 2,700 year head start; to establish the fertility cults, then He started working earnestly with Abram and women.

My favorite women of the Bible. Several actually, and not who you would think. I'm thinking the woman at the well, who Jesus ministered to (a Philistine, whom the Jews did not associate with) who had been married to several men and then lived with a few others. He knew exactly what she was, not a very "righteous' woman, but He took the time to actually 'see' her. And she became the first missionary, because she went back to her village, told everyone about Jesus and they came a believed right away. Without having to see some miracle performed.
Then there is Rahab, the harlot, who saved the spies in Jericho, by telling a lie, but is mentioned in the lineage of Jesus. Who would have thought that God's grace and forgiveness would forgive such things? But it does...
And Ruth, who showed utter loyalty to her mother-in-law, by staying with her when she had no husband to take care of her. She went and 'laid' at the feet of Boaz, because they were so hungry they had no where else to go. She became his wife after laying with him, and a direct descendent of Jesus Christ.
Sounds kind of like our world today doesn't it? When we think we are so 'advanced', seems people are still the same...telling lies, living with people while unmarried, and yet God's grace is still new and fresh and powerful and freely given.
How wonderful is that?

Esther, I think her story (the book of Esther) is one of the most incredible stories in the bible. And also apparently she was kinda hot. :)
Specifically:
5th century BC
She risked her life and ended up rescuing the Jews from extermination (although as her uncle mentioned, God would have raised up someone else if she hadn't, but the fact is she was the one who did).

Sarah and Ruth.
We are the seed of Abraham. Therefore, Sarah is our mother. Moreover she signify Mount Zion as opposed to Hagar, Mount of Sinai. Sarah even though is 90, yet she is desired by kings.
Ruth signify us. Boaz is the kinsmen redeemer, who signify Jesus. To become a kinsmen redeemer, he must be wealthy (which Jesus is), a close relative (Jesus is the son of our father), and he must be willng (Jesus died on the cross willingly). Ruth was redeemed by Boaz. We has been redeemed by the finished work. Isn't this a beautiful picture?

Deborah: 1200 bc possibly from the tribe of Ephraim.
she was a prophetess, a judge and a military leader all in one - a powerful triple combination of authority and responsibility held by only two other Israelites, Moses and Samuel.
