If it is true then why do any living organisims even bother with survival instinct?

It is true - the law is "matter can neither be created or destroyed". Matter can be turned into other things and living organisms are quite happy as they are and don't welcome change

Yes, but inert matter is not life. It's little comfort for any one to know that he/she will continue to 'live' on as atoms and some cosmic radiation hurtling into space or buried under some sod. Fortunately, matter and energy are not the only 'things' that make us what we are. There are more worlds than we can ever imagine.
