When it comes time for the Lord to return, you will be given a 2nd chance durin what is called the Great Tribulation. There will be many miracles seen, but sadly the price is 75% of the world's population dies in the end. meaning you have a 1/4 chance of making it through all 7 years, even less if you are a believer as you will literally be hunted down and murdered by those who dont believe. The Lord will do many miracles, and there will be no question as to who is doing them, but if you die in the very first, you have no real 2nd chance unless you know the signs of the times and accept Him now. Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow never comes, and yesterday can't be changed.
Following the 10 commandments isn't what gets you in to heaven. It's the belief that Jesus died for your sins, came back to life, and is your personal savior. Being forgiven is a gift God gives us so we can be with Him. Don't take the chance of waiting until the tribulation, the odds are not good for anyone who does, and while many come to believe, many others will get too scared and not hold strong to Him. It is a time of testing for those who waited so long.

As a Buddhist, I'm atheist and therefore I don't believe in any deified, omnipotent version of Jesus, nor do I believe in an omnipotent creator being. We have a vastly different view on hell realms and how you get there, which isn't like the version you hear in church. We also have a vastly different understanding of accountability, what constitutes something as "bad" (i.e. anything that causes real harm and suffering) vs. "good", via teachings on karma, the real nature of things, etc.
I'm afraid we don't discriminate so dualistically as to say, well you're Christian so you're going to hell, etc., We believe you take rebirth in whatever realm based on your karma and state of mind at death. So if you're altruistic and kind, and do nothing, or very little to cause any harm or suffering, no matter what religion you practice, you take a better rebirth, no matter what you believe in, etc. Buddhahood is another matter entirely though... that takes much more than just the basics.

If Jesus is as good as they say, we won't go to Hell.
Don't think too hard about the Bible. Keep in mind that this was a book written over the course of several centuries by several people (and hasn't even been updated for several centuries). This is a work of man. It has some good things in it, but most of it can be ignored. Even the 10 Commandments...only half of them actually contribute to a better life.
So, ignoring the Bible, what does your heart say? Common sense? What would the existence of Hell mean for an omnipotent god?
If God is loving, then he wouldn't have ever created a Hell for eternal torment. He would want everyone to be blissful in the afterlife--even in light of their mistakes (not believing in his religion, for one). So, no one would go to Hell.
On the other hand, if God does punish nonbelievers with eternal torment, then he is clearly not a loving god. And someone who holds human life in such low regard cannot be trusted to hold lesser concepts in a high regard, such as honor, compassion, and honesty. A god who willingly tortures people cannot be trusted to stay true to his word. As such, even his believers risk being tossed into Hell, for that god could just as easily say, "Yes, you followed me. Get out of here."
Which means that in the end, it doesn't really matter much, does it? Everyone is either guaranteed Heaven, or no one is guaranteed Heaven. So, you have nothing left to do but live the best life you can. You'll find out when you die.

We Jews have 613 commandments, but unlike Christians, we do not expect other people to live by our laws. Rather, to be considered righteous, we expect all non-Jews to abide by seven rules called the Noahide Laws. They are very straightforward, common sense things like, do not murder, do not eat the flesh from a still-living animal, etc. They can be found in Genesis. Besides, even if someone weren't to follow the Noahide Laws, there is no hell in Judaism anyway.
I can't really offer anything from the perspective of another religion.

Jesus is coming back to get His own believers. There are false gods that will cause people to miss Heaven. Please convert and be Saved before it is to late.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

According to christians, only those who have accepted jesus christ get to go to heaven. Everyone else goes to hell, regardless of whether they follow the ten commandments or lead a good life. A murdering rapist who repents and asks god for forgiveness will get into heaven, while a gentle and kind buddhist priest who never hurt anyone on purpose will burn in hell. According to christians.

That depends who you ask. If you ask mainstream Christianity, only Christians and children who die young enough to understand will go to heaven (and people who are mentally retarded). I think (at least some branches of) Muslims believe that Christians, Jews, and Muslims will go to heaven. Some religions believe that everyone will go to heaven. Others believe that only the strictest followers of their religion will make it. Who is right? Most people would agree that "I am" right...each thinking themselves the right answer.

The only way to Heaven is through the belief of Jesus Christ and his absolution of sin on the cross.
No one can come to the father but by me - Jesus
Let no one enter the kingdom of heaven but by me - Jesus

Christians hold that there is one path to eternal righteousness. That path is through the atoning sacrifice of Christ, the second person of the Trinitarian God. Christ himself was clear that **no one** could come to God the Father, the first person of the Trinitarian God, except through Christ himself. In this era of religious pluralism, “it is OK to believe what you want as long as you are sincere”, the message from Christ has been severely diluted and corrupted. That said, I believe that there is biblical support for the idea that persons of different faiths outside of orthodox Christianity, may be found righteous before God at the time of their death. For example, consider those that died before Christ walked the earth or those that had never heard the message of Christ in this era that have died. For these, God looks into their hearts and minds, judging them according to their deepest beliefs. If and only if their deepest beliefs held that they could not make themselves righteous through their own mind and efforts, and instead required a representative perfectly sinless advocate, through whom they could appeal to God’s mercy, then I believe God will accept the person into the community of heaven.
What then?
There is no soul sleep of the righteous. The bible clearly says:
2Co 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (ESV Translation)
Only the damned sleep in their graves.
1Co 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Those that have died in Christ now reside in heaven. Since Christ, the second person of the Godhead, has always existed, the elect of God have been known to Him before Christ actually walked the earth. So anyone who has died since the world began exists in heaven or in the grave as described above.
The spiritual bodies of the righteous will result from the joining of their heavenly natures with their resurrected bodies at the second coming of Christ at the final judgment.
Those that are damned will awake from their sleep to be judged and join Satan in their separation from God in Hell.
2Th 1:9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

Its not about religion.
It's about who you know.
Isn't that the way in life, who you know could land you a job or an inheritance ect..
The bible says in the book of John chapter 3 verse 16.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
So if you believe in God's Son and believe in what He did for you, you won't perish (hell) you'll go to heaven.
But obviously its up to you.
Because if you truly believe in something (or want to find out about it) you're going to search it out like you're doing now.
Don't take my word for it.
Go to www.biblegateway.com and read the book of John and take God's word for it.
