ok i'm a bit worried now. these box dyes never turn out exactly as they say.
firstly, if it says light brown and the pic looks light brown on the box chances are it'll turn out darker than you want.
secondly you said your hair was fair to medium so 90% chance you're gonna get green tones unless theres alot of warm tones in there ( golds, chocolates etc)
i think your best bet is to have a semi-permanent colour first, atleast that'll fade if you dont like it,
better still go to a salon, it wont cost a lot if a trainee does it, sounds risky but what you're about sounds alot riskier honey and the trainees are always supervised by someone qualified,
good luck whatever you do!

It's not nessessarily the brand or make of the camera. It could just be the light in the scene of the picture. If you have any photo packages on your computer, this could correct the colour and light balance.

Import your photo's to the package, Photoshop is good. Change the colour settings to CYMK...this colour setting is the closest to the 'real thing'. RGB setting is bad for prints and should only be used for screen work and web.

you can then change the 'levels', colour balance and brightness/contrast of the photo. All these commands are found in the edit tool bar.
