You must use the Restore CD, if it came with your PC, It will return your PC to factory condition.

You used the XP upgrade. That's why you got the warning messages.

A restore CD is not normally exactly the same an off the shelf copy of Windows. Restore CDs generally are provided by the PC manufacturer and includes drivers for the PC and additional software.

No. The Restore CD only works on your computer and includes other software and settings from the computer manufacturer. It is used when you have problems and want to restore the computer to the original state. You will lose all files and programs that you added. You have to use a specific restore procedure to restore the computer. The restore procedure is also hard-disc based on newer computers so that you can restore the computer without the CD if the hard drive is functioning.

the Restore Windows CD is a CD that your computer included with your computer, to use in case something is wrong with your computer, this CD will including your original version of Windows that your computer came with, plus drivers for all of your pre-installed devices (graphic video driver, sound driver, modem driver, ethernet NIC driver, etc..). When you use this Restore CD, it will make your computer just like when you first bought. All your files, programs will be destroy. So back up them first to an external HD before you do restoring.

The Original copy of Windows is just a copy of Windows OS itself, no driver or anything else, just like you buy at the computer stores.

yes the RESTORE CD is nothing but the original CD itself.

Well that is just a warning message. You can format that driver and install it freshly and you'll not have any problem.
