thedressmarket.net is another option if you are looking to sell your wedding dress.
Quite a few brides sell the dress just by taking a picture of it hanging up, some by using their wedding photographs which gives an idea of what the dress looks like on.
A good idea to sell soon after your wedding day as your dress will still be in fashion and likely to be still in bridal shops at full price. You could then look at using the advertising photo to sell the dress.
Hope you get lots for it!

Are you in the UK? Have you tried...
1st call for weddings.
http://www.1stcallforweddings.co.uk
Could try your local newspaper in the classified section, The Loot, contacting the bridal store you brought it from and seeing if they can help advertise it.
I wouldn't completely discount eBay as you can put a reserve price, and if that is not meet then the dress doesn't get sold, or you could just do a BUY NOW! offer.
UK based wedding site Confetti, has a section in their forum called FOR SALE. ''Want to sell your once worn wedding dress or bridesmaids dress, those extra favours or shoes which were too tight? You can advertise them all for free!''
http://forums.confetti.co.uk/index.php?showforum=12
Hope that helps

Try craigslist, your local paper, Yahoo auctions, or maybe an eBay trading assistant can help you. I know you said no eBay....
I am an eBay trading asst and just sold a wedding gown for over $400 for a customer. It might be worth a try!
eBay has been my full time job for 4 years, and I have sold over 12,000 items.
Please email me directly and I can share more information with you.

Craig's List.
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/about/cities.html
It's free, it's online, and it's wildly popular, and you set the price - no auction.
The only downside is if you aren't near a major metro area, but you can always post it in many areas and include a price to ship.
I always put something on that first before I ebay it.
(but watch for scam sites. if you google just "craigslist" you also get a bunch of false sites. Google "Craig's List" along with your local large city ie "Craig's List Boston" to get the site for your area).
If you consign, you often only get 25% - 30% of the retail value. Many times they sell it for 50% of retail, then give you 1/2 of that. But it is better than nothing.

There are many fine upscale consignment shops for formal wear...or your local paper would be great and no one would get a cut of the money....You can expect to get much less for the dress than what you paid and most consignment shops will make you have the dress cleaned and that would be no less than 25.00 I am sure...so the paper idea sounds good to me.....

Have you tried some of the wedding forums on the net? Some of them have "items for sell" sections.

Would be easier if knew where you are located. Most areas have consigment shops, try your local paper, craigslist is actually very good. Good luck if you post at least a general are of where you are it will be easier to help
