who refuse to pay child support? As it stands right now if you dont pay child support all most places do is cancel your driving privileges, you cant get a passport, send you to collections and take your tax returns. Very few parents who dont pay go to jail for non payment. And those with suspended or cancelled licenses dont care and drive anyways. What would make a person take care of their responsibilities?

What can the government due to help collect the monies owed to the children not currently receiving child support from parents who were ordered to do so? Or do you feel there is to much control over it already?

I wouldnt be bothered so much if they had to cover normal living expenses such as school things, clothing, health care (deductibles and other payments), activities or whatever. I think that the CS system is seriously flawed and yes, some fathers get the hard shaft and have to deal with greedy exes who all they want is money. But if your CS order doesnt take more than 1/4 of your income then i see no reason why you cannot pay the support due.

I know guys who are only supposed to pay 170 bucks a month and wont pay and i know others who have to pay 600 and will. its all about being responsible. Unfortunately some arent.

if you limit what they do or make it mandatory through the court that either they get a job and maintain it or they get sent to prison, and stick to it, i think some would comply and get off their behinds. I would make it mandadtory for 12 months on time pay or no freedom.

Apparently there is not enough control over it!!! My ex owes over $20,000 in child support!!! He gets away with it because he knows the "system" meaning he'll work at a job only long enough for the child support system to finally find out where he is and then he quits! & why don't they throw these "deadbeat" non-custodial parents in jail??? We're (the custodial parent) isn't getting the child support anyways, so at least the "dead beat" parent will suffer the consequence!!!
I'll be paying close attention to any answers for any ideas that I can use!!!

The real trouble is child support is too much. I don't have to worry about it because I'm not divorced but I have friends who are paying more in child support for one month than I'd pay in 6 months for child expenses. Where do they come up with these ridiculous amounts of money no one can really afford it and those who do live in poverty so their ex can live in luxury. Why can't you just split the real expenses 50/50. If you have a family of 3 you your child and your new spouse your ex should only pay 1/3 the grocery bill's and half 1/6 of the other bills because that's half of the percentage that goes to your child. Then half of any extra curricular things your child wants and half of your child's clothing expenses. Child support would be allot cheaper and allot more reasonable. Why should the person who does no get to have custody of their kids also have to pay for your new life. Further more the time that they have the kids, weekends, holidays etc. half of what they spend should be deducted from what they owe.

I think it should be taken right out of their paychecks. And if they make cash, someone should step in to audit them, and see what they're making, and charge them support accordingly.

They should make it a 3 strikes you're out kind of system. Where if you fail the first 2 times, you get a hefty fine that goes to a college fund for the child, adn third time to jail, or some type of probation where you have to be repsonsible like working in a shelter for 6 months, and paying your wages to child support that you're behind in.

Sending deadbeat dads to jail is not going to get child support collected from them. Go to the welfare office and say you need money because the bum isn't following his court order. They'll get on his tail.
