My company used to have shows during weekends whenever there is occasion in Sg. We are entitled a leave compensation if we help during the show on weekend. As I understand from my HR, the compensation leave have to be cleared within that particular month and we are not allow to carry forward next month as it is stated under labour law. Can anybody advise me on the Section in the labour law book pertaining to the matter! How many days of leave compensation do we have if we work for Saturday and Sunday (as my company is only a 5 days week co).

Are you abroad or in the US? In the US, it is up to your company's policy. What if it's on the last day of the month?

Under Employment Act Section 38 (1) (b), an employee shall not be required to work more than 8 hours in one day or more than 44 hours in one week.
If a employee work more than 44 hours in one week, he shall be paid for such extra work at the rate of not less than one and a half times his hourly basic rate of pay irrespective of the basis on which his rate of pay is fixed under Section 38 (4) (b).

However, Under Section 35, this section is applicable:
(a) to workmen; and
(b) to employees who are in receipt of a salary not exceeding $1,600 a month (excluding overtime payments, bonus payments, annual wage supplements, productivity incentive payments and any allowance however described) or such other amount as may be prescribed by the Minister.

Which meant employees other than (a) & (b) are not covered under this act. Meaning, there will be not over time pay.

The compensation leave for working extra hours given to these group of employees is based on the company policy. Some companies may request the employees to clear within 3 months or the same month. Some not even get any compensation leave.

(Assuming US)
The FLSA says that LE personnel cannot work more than 171 hours in a 28-day cycle without being entitled to either overtime pay (at 1.5 x pay rate) or "compensatory time" (at 1.5 x pay rate).
If they are requiring you to take time off during the cycle, it is because they don't want to have to pay you overtime or have you accrue 1.5 hrs comp time for every hour you work over.

I would expect that it varies by state, company, and contract.
