Hi, I know I can never have a romanitc relationship with my doctor due to the doctor-patient rule of ethics but how can I continue on with my treatment. He is helping me to deal with my issues but I've fallen for him. I'm thinking maybe it's because he listens to my most intimate thoughts. I tell myself everyday not to think that way about him but I can't stop. I also know that this is not good for my therapy. Should I find another doctor even though we are just now starting to make some progress? Also should I tell him about my feelings and end my therapy with him or give him some lame excuse for not seeing him anymore and find another therapist?

I would advise against telling him. How awkward would that be? Would you ever be able to look him in the eye again? I couldn't. I think it is just infatuation and will probably pass.

It's most likely natural to be attracted to someone that spends all the time that you're with him focused on you exclusively. Plus he is probably attractive, intelligent, and dresses professionally.

If you truly can't get over it, truly can't stop thinking about him, etc. where it's bordering on obsession then I'd say find a new psychiatrist. Cause you're right, that's not healthy.

Listen, be honest with the therapist...it happens all the time. ppl fall in love with psychiatrists all the time. Let him know you think you should see someone else and ask if he can recommend someone.

There is no scientifically valid and reliable evidence for seeing this individual so you are just having an affair with them and paying to do it too or having some taxpayers pay for you to do this. You need to stop this. This snake is being just that being a snake and getting you hooked on him and you are in big trouble here. Don't let this snake use you.

I suggest that find another therapist, those feelings can hurt your progress and/or therapy.

Yes you should tell him about it. Ethically, he should not treat you if you feel like this and he will refer you to someone else.
