maybe a necklace or ring with her birthstone in it.

oh im good at this :D
i dont know when u have to get it by... but i never have gone wrong with a gift... here's my secret:
take her window shopping one time... girls cant help but look at stuff they want but wont buy themselves...
now here's the trick: observe, watch, listen about the things they like.... forexample: "oh honey, isnt that pendant pretty hehe"... u take that info remember the shop and the pendant, and go there next time without her and buy it wrap it up and watch her say "omg, i cant believe u remembered that"
the true pressent is the fact that u notice little things, which makes the gift that much more special.
of course since its for an anniversary, take her or make her candle light dinner first, maybe some wine, and chocolate.. then give the gift.
another suggestion... is to make something for her, even if its just a lil love note... no hallmarks crap. they love personal things more than expensive things... unless of course, they are shallow and materialistic... which will be fixed with the window shopping plan.
good luck buddy!

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Oh god... don't listen to a guy about this
Depending on how serious your relationship is and how old you are, give her a copy of your key.. unless you are living together already!! Unless you're married stay away from diamonds, unless its THE diamond, otherwise I think it takes away from THE diamond!!
If its not that serious and you do want to get her jewelry find out her birthstone.. go that way or just some pretty stone
chocolates and flowers are nice but they are more valentines day... cook her dinner and light some candles, her favorite dinner, not yours back massage... i dunno be creative
anything that is sentimental will mean a lot to her... OOOH pictures of the two of you are always good...
use inside jokes

Read and follow this, kid.
Get Flowers. Take her out for a quiet dinner at a place you two can be alone (Important: Get her favourite dessert). A thin shiny necklace or a set of earrings will make her day and your week.

Well honey, you do know that "Diamond's are a girl's Best-Friend?" Right. Oh, and her "Favorite Perfume, and or "Real" Red Roses, with babies breathe, or: a "Gift Card" for her favorite store, so she can buy whatever she likes herself, that way you dont get the "I really had my heart set on this, but Thank-you , anyway's!!" Or, a nice box of chocolates, a Nice pair of expensive earrings with her birth stone in them, and her favorite big bottle of perfume!! Plus a cake the bakery already made for her, with her name on it, balloons, and a banner saying "Happy Birthday on it, with her name on it....Get some really good Shardenee' (I think I spelt it wrong) Its Champagne!! And you are good to go!! Oh, dont forget the "Barry White" album, to set the mood with!! Smile!!!

Mmmmmm, that depends because not all girls like the same things, so if she is a girly girl get her something with diamonds and if she is not then i say something simple like flowers or roses it all depends what kind of girl she is. One good one would be for you to cook her a good dinner that is always awesome. She will love you even more for that!

Flowers, Dinner at her favorite place to eat that is nice and quiet and you can sit with some privacy. A nice necklace that says I love you a lot and I want to be with you for a long time.
Don't ask her what she wants and where she wants to go if you decide that is what you will be doing.

Make her a blog/timeline telling her how much you love her and talk about all the great times you have had together. My b/f used http://ourstory.excellentabc.com to make one for me. It is free to do and you can both keep it updated as your relationship grows.
If you need more ideas check out http://www.relationshipgiftguide.com/Unique_Gift_Ideas.html . Lots of good stuff there.
Hope this helps you out.
