We only have an estimate of how many illegals are here. Regardless, the number of illegals is now so large that stronger measures are required to secure our borders.
Of course, there are deportations every day. We pick them up, drop them off in Mexico, and they come right back across because our borders are poorly defended. And can you blame them for coming back? Work opportunities and life are better in the US, and if they get caught, they get a free bus ride back to Mexico. Some punishment - they have everything to gain, and nothing to lose by immigrating illegally.
Open Borders would be the ultimate disaster. Despite the flaws of our current immigration system, the Open Borders idea allows anybody and everybody to enter the US without documentation or accountability. The sole purpose of Open Borders is to destabilize the US economy and bring about the downfall of capitalism. You will find that the supports of Open Borders aren't far removed from the Kyoto Protocol enviro-socialists....

it's a bit harder than just putting them in a mailbox and sending them back. It would cost a lot of money to just send them all back. And our economy is becoming very dependant on them, you probably heard it over and over again they take jobs that no one (American) wants. They work all the lower end jobs because they can't move up since they don't have the legal papers that allow them to.
I wish it was as simple as black and white but there is a huge gray area that comes with immigrants. Cooperate America wants their cheap labour cause they help lower cost which sometimes is passed on to us (wal-mart).
Background checks can only tell you the past they can't predicate the future, you can let some guy in he doesn't make it in America for some reason and then he turns to crime. The whole issue is too complicated because the huge amounts of illegal immigrants that we are dealing with.

The number of Illegal aliens is an estimate. It is insulting to claim that there are only 7 to 12 million ILLEGAL aliens. There are probably that many just in California. The ILLEGALS in CA cost us over $10 billion each year. From what I've seen and heard it is probably closer to 20 to 30 million and it increases daily!
I think that our govt doesn't enforce our immigration laws because they don't want to piss off Mexico (our biggest contributor of ILLEGAL aliens).

Policy isn't law...and the policy of illegal aliens getting a free ride needs to stop. It was one BIG mistake for illegals doing those little protests last year..all it did was put it to lite about what illegal aliens are doing to the US, and how they are raping the system with crimes. They are planning to do more protests this year also again. I am fed up with my government not doing THEIR JOB! F*CK IRAQ! I WANT THE US SECURED!

We don't have the guts to deport them. It is possible to deport them contrary to popular opnion. Hitler ransported 6mil jews, so we can transport 12 mil illegals.
