Atheists bear the weight of their own actions, why can't you?

And while you're at it, what kind of person are you to let Jesus suffer for your deeds? That's not fair. It should enflame your sense of shame.

What the Hell good does reciting hail-marys do for anyone? For you, or those you've hurt?

True forgiveness requires accepting responsibility.

Only God can forgive sin. Only God can give you a renewed mind and spirit. Only God can restore what the cankerworm has taken from you.
And Atheists DO NOT bear the weight of their own sin.
Their knee shall bow, their tounge shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. There is one birth, one baptisim and one judgement. Do you really think the Atheists won't be judged according to the Word of God like everyone else?
Just because YOU have never seen something does not mean that something does not exist.

If a true Christian were, in a fall to temptation, say, rob a bank, he could confess and be forgiven, but he would also have to accept responsibility and turn himself in to the authorities, and serve time in prison. A true Christian would do this, and not even waste the court's time, by pleading guilty at arraignment.

Why would you think I am not bearing the weight of my own actions?

You are right and I agree with everything you wrote. I accept responsibility for my sins and I ask to be forgiven for my spirit's sake. I bear the weight of my actions but still always ask forgiveness every day. I am responsible for my whole life and all I have done or said.

In the bible 1John 1:9 " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness ". God with his infinite mercy gave us his only begotten son Jesus who's blood was the payment for the believers sins, only if we ask for mercy , accept Jesus as our savior , and turn from our worldly ways will he forgive us.Many will have to answer for their sins at judgment day . Doing hail Marys is idolatry .

First you MUST accept responsibility. How can you confess your sins if you haven’t accepted responsibility? That would be meaningless to us and to God. He sees our hearts, knows if we have accepted responsibility.

We ask God for forgiveness in the very same way that we forgive those who have wronged us.

The thought that Christ would be willing to suffer for me is such a profound understanding that it IS hard to take in. But this is what He did. In return, all we can do is study his teachings and try to live as he taught us to live. He told us that what we do and say to others, we do and say to him. This is also a profound understanding, and should cause all who call ourselves followers of Christ to carefully consider our words and actions.

Well, it seems you're another that doesn't get it.

Confessing to God of our sins IS taking responsibility. And we take it even further by asking to be forgiven, and even further than that, we accept the forgiveness.

No matter how much you hate that, it won't change a thing.

You confess your sins to God as part of taking responsibility. You recognize that you are not perfect, you are human, and you are going to make mistakes. When you confess, you are not only telling him you messed up, you are making a promise to yourself to be stronger and better resist temptation.

Absolution may not come all at once, but you gain strength with each confession until you are strong enough to resist altogether.

You accept responsibility when you confess to God and ask forgiveness.
I confess so I can be forgiven. So I can live forever in heaven.
Jesus already suffered. We dont have to and he doesn't want us to.

We also pray for people like you.

the way I see it, a clergyman could be greater like a non secular mentor next to Christ and God. it truly is the way it truly is interior the Greek Orthodox Church a minimum of. Confessing one's sins is freeing the load on one's soul. The priest isn't forgiving the sin yet quite praying with you to invite Christ to realize this. isn't it greater useful to share one's issues than bottling it up interior?
