We both just need to figure out who we are because we were just too dependent on each other. We've established that we will stay as friends, and if something happens in the future then it will. I miss him sooooooo much though that my heart hurts. When is it okay to start talking and becoming friends?

I don't think there's a set time limit. contact him when you want. you should wait til you can talk to him and not feel so emotionally attached, though. each person is different, so I can't tell you how long.

As you miss him it will be hard to stay friends. How will you feel if he gets a new girlfriend. I am friends with an ex but we lost contact for 5 yrs than met up in a pub accidently and now are great friends. We have no attraction/feelings for each other anymore and i think thats why it works us being friends. We both have new partners too. I wish you luck.

This is happening to me right now...I do miss him very much, but I just don't think I can deal with him being with someone else. I know he is now...but it just hurts...it really does...
He is a very good person and yet very bad, I could have just ignored him but, it's not a healthy relationship...
I don't know if I could be friends with him...Just don't know...If you do it let me know how it goes..

It's ok if you can be friends. Sounds to me like you want more. If they don't then it's probably not a good idea.

just call him up and see how hes doing. Ask him how things are going in his life and if hes having any luck finding himself? just call and let him know that you care.
