If you were walking in a field one day and you came upon a rock laying in the grass, you would not think anything of it. However, if you were walking in the same field and came upon a watch, also laying in the grass, then you would ponder
"Why is there a watch laying in the grass? Someone must have made it" You think this because the design of the watch is so detailed and so ingenious, that it could not have been created simply by accident.
Now think about our universe, billions and trillions of stars burning in the deepest depths of space, the amazing detail of a human eye, the sheer power of the Great White, all with such amazing detail. How can you say that there is no creator, how can you say that there is no God or greater power, who created the amazing earth on which we are standing?
Your opinion is your own however and you have some very good points - I am not here to judge.

Human beings are not robots; they have emotions. The Age of Enlightenment had negative consequences if you would read your history a little. If you want to read a good story that is a backlash against the Age of Enlightenment, try Frankenstein. Logic can't answer all of the questions we have. People believe and have faith, because they feel things emotionally. There are rational arguments about the existence of a supreme being as well. We don't understand or can explain much of what we observe in the universe.
Why do you limit your thinking to logic alone? Why do you assume that only religious people ponder the existence of a supreme being? Your brain is equipped to deal with more than logic alone. You are being closed minded if you try to excuse away your feelings and emotions as superstition and ignorance.

You are here because of God. And he doesn't pigeon hole you into believing anything. If for no other reason the belief in our, God helps give us hope when only despair is around. Hope and Faith gives us humanity. Try it sometime. Remember that Love is a factor. Can you love?? Without faith and can you love with out hope? You do not have to believe in God if you do not want to, but you might try to believe in something.

I agree with you totally. I had a couple of professors at graduate school who were very religious, and I asked them the same question. Their answer was they had been "taught" religion at an early age, and were simply incapable of not believing. Most of the religious of the world believe because they have been programmed to do so since birth, and that is the way it is maintained.

I have been telling people like you that there is evidence, but whats the point, you won't listen in the first place, your only asking in order to show off, not to really get an answer.

doesn't it seem odd that the "evidence for the existence of god" is completely hidden from the greatest human minds who spend their professional lives exploring how the universe functions, yet it is perfectly clear to uneducated simpletons who have access to internet-linked terminals?

Well, look at it this way, if there is no God, and you believe in him anyway, what's the harm? If there is a God and you have never believed in him, then you'll probably go to hell.

Because it's irrational to see creation and not believe in a Creator.
