My question is when I go to install Windows XP upgrade from 2000 I get a error message saying it can't find the right path for xp upgrade. It looks like Vista is gone(HooRay") but I want my XP back. I used original 2000 Professional disk first and that is what I am stuck with. I changed the boot order so cd-rom would boot first. What can I do? Thanks

Thats pretty weird may have to reformat the Hard drive and start again usually a lot quicker in these instances.

Take it Vista is a complete waste of time then?

Assuming 2000 is on drive C:, cold boot with XP in the CD drive. When XP sees 2000, tell it to replace 2000.

Format drive C; if prompted. Have the 2000 CD ready.

If XP sees Vista, search the web for instructions to Remove Vista first.

Try this: Once you re finished installing a fresh copy of Windows 2000, reboot your system and make sure there is nothign in the CD ROM drive. Then once the system finishes booting up and you are logged in as an administrator, insert the upgrade cd. That will open the install manager, and from there on it should be self explanatory. Hope this helps.

Put the XP cd in your drive
restart your computer
select boot from cd
from there follow the instructions.
