Yes
Christ sent His Apostles with authority to teach all nations, and never gave them any command of writing the Bible. And the Apostles went forth and preached everywhere, and planted the Church of God throughout the earth, but never thought of writing.
Christ did not say, "Sit down and write Bibles and scatter them over the earth, and let every man read his Bible and judge for himself." If Christ had said that, there would never have been a Christianity on the earth at all, but a Babylon and confusion instead, and never one Church, the union of one body. Hence, Christ never said to His Apostles, "Go and write Bibles and distribute them, and let everyone judge for himself." That injunction was reserved for the Sixteenth Century, and we have seen the result of it. Ever since the Sixteenth Century there have been springing up religion upon religion, and churches upon churches, all fighting and quarreling with one another, and all because of the private interpretation of the Bible.

As near as I understand it on what I learned in sunday school, the first Christian church was basically founded on two events:
1. Jesus tells Peter that he is the rock on which he would build his church, and Peter became the first Pope.
2. At the Pentocost, the Holy Spirit came down upon the apostles in tongues of flame, the Apostles were granted the ability to be understood, no matter what country they went to, and what language others spoke.
They were then charged to go out and spread the Gospel.
I don't think they were a church, until that charge was given and accepted. More like they were apprentices of the Christ. (I will show you how to be fishers of men...)
They did not quote the New Testament, they quoted the teachings of the Christ, and if it were appropriate, how these teachings related to the Torah, as the Christ said that He didn't come to abolish the law, only to fulfill it. (There was no Old Testament, because there was no New Testament, only the Torah. Or they would write lessons based on the teachings, and some of the lessons given to the body, one day became some of the writings of the NT
There is some question who wrote the Gospels when. Some say within about 70 years of Christ's death, while others say that it was an oral tradition for 300-400 years AD.
That the Apostles were given the ability to be understood through the spoken word, that sounds like an oral traditon to me.
I have also heard it said that during this time, there were many different denominations and approaches to the teachings, just as we have now, then the Catholic church gained enough dominance and power to knock out the competition so to speak, and as time went on, they collected the stories, writings and practices of the other groups, and some of these were edited in to the Bible, and others edited out.
Then as time went on, the Catholic church got split into several different Catholic churches, and later, after the Reformation, Protestant churches emerged.

If Christians means followers of Christ or believes in Christ.
and Church is a community.
ergo, A Christian Church is a community who believes and follows the ways of Christ.
If original means pertaining to the first, new or origin.
And Apostles [in the New Testament] were the first followers of Christ.
ergo, The Apostles are the original followers of Christ.
Therefore, The Apostles is the first Christian Church, along with all the followers of Christ's words and ways during His days.

The apostles wrote the New Testament, and they WERE the original church.
Hence the doctrine of Sola scriptura. The writings of the original church carry more weight that the writings of later Christians.
Why are you on an anti-protestant rant today?
----edit----
I did NOT say that THIS particular question seemed anti-protestant. I said that YOU seemed anti-protestant when all of your latest posts are viewed as a whole.
You are such a liar! You are full of slander against your protestant brothers today! Is there nothing that you will NOT misrepresent and slander? Have you no shame?

They were the ordained leaders of the primitive Church...Christ's church. Without priesthood holding apostles a church is not the true church of Christ.
Mark 3: 14-15 and he ordained twelve...
Luke 6: 13...and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles
God wrote it through them.

I would say no. The apostles themselves were Jewish - and very traditional ones at that. They upheld all the laws - and usually only taught to Jews and God-fearers.
The Christian Church didn't really get going until Paul - who wrote the majority of the new testament through his letters.
But both Paul and the Apostles quoted Jesus and the OT. The NT did not exist, as we know it, until many, many decades later.
We don't know who wrote the NT gospels. Tradition ascribes them to the apsotles and followers - but in reality they were written without naming the authors.
