I think there should be counseling and marriage classes BEFORE marriage, instead of when the marriage is in trouble. I think it should be quite difficult to get a permit to marry, with classes and compatibility/mental health testing and a waiting period. Then if you get through all that, you can get married.
Then it could be super easy to get a divorce, instead of the other way around.

Absolutely! Stop stupid people from breeding! But not just an IQ test. They should be tested on IQ, common sense , financial status AND personality. We have enough mean, stupid, hateful people in this world! I mean, I guess if you still wanted to marry, you could, but if you fail any of the four tests then you aren't allowed children and should have your tubes tied or your vasectomy done on the spot. I know this would exclude lots of people from having kids , but for the kids that WERE born, they would be happy, healthy, wanted, well taken care of and loved. I understand that these high standards may exclude ME from having kids, but if I got excluded, at least I'd know that I wouldn't have been a good father anyway.

Now there's a concept!
Although degrading, it may save a lot of problems in the future. I also assume, the testing would be on both of us?! From past experience, I would have to say, if the testing had been done and I knew then, what I know now, I definitely think I would have backed off!
Good question in my opinion!

No, it's fairly obvious when speaking with someone how 'intelligent' they are. The testing that both parties should take is the MMPI the Minnesota multi-phasic personality inventory. I believe every student should have to take it prior to graduation. It is not a hard test but it tells alot about the person. Like personality disorders, which show their level of compassion, empathy etc. And,yes, it would have helped in my life choices. Both me and my husband have taken it. We both have personality disorders due to traumatic childhoods.

not sure. it's not all bad i mean everyone has baggage right? if they did that "testing" how many people would be getting married illegally? or at least in another part of a state or country where they could without being tested. i see your point though.

Yes! and for reproducing. The funny thing is that only the dumb ones would object to this policy. It wouldn't effect smart people.
