Definitely not a good idea. For diversity purposes yes, but for the country to be overflown by Latin Americans...NO!

The only advantage would be to Mexico. Their people wouldn't have to enter this nation via illegal means any more. But I cant see any advantage to Canada or the USA. Only the poorer people of a 3rd world type nation would reap any substantial gain. I am totally against open borders. I want secured borders not open ones. I live in Arizona and its already almost like we have an open border.
When are you moving Alias ? You seem to have more hate than anyone .I feel sorry for you with all that venom.

Open borders are fine as long as the immigration is legal. When you don't pay attention to who comes into the country, you run the risk of letting dangerous people in - and we have enough dangerous people already. Also, you put a lot more stress on services such as health care, education and law enforcement. Not too many other countries let people enter indiscriminately, but unfortunately it's getting to the point where in this country, if you voice your protest over illegal immigration, you are called a racist or a bigot. Immigration is a great thing. It brings diverseness and awareness of other cultures and cuisines into the country. The bottom line is that we have laws so lets enforce them.

there are NO advantages to open borders!! I can't believe anyone would actually think this was a good idea. We need to to the opposite and close the borders and enforce the laws of this country. Remember we are the United States of America.. open borders would take our sovereignty away from us. Look at the problems with our country today, and illegal immigration is the cause of many of them. our health care system, prisons, school system, social programs, and the political process are all being negatively affected by illegal immigration. I also find it funny that as a us citizen, we have to have all kinds of documentation and a passport to leave the country and then return.. so why do we let everyone else just come on in to this country.??? also, think about the terrorist threats to the country. We are so so so concerned about planes and terrorist attacks... but we allow illegals to come across the border with no questions.. go figure.. where is the next terrorist attack going to happen???

Open borders is a very stupid idea, no way can that work, nor can it be good for the U. S. A., only one country, Mexico, comes out ahead with open borders. These liberal dreamers, of an all open world, with no borders need to do some other things with their time, it will not happen, nor will it work.

my bro said they are constructing a major road to connect canada an mexico for an open border, so its enevitible, but personally i wish they wouldnt. we would have to fix mexico first an make it liveable so it wouldnt be a disaster by eveyone moveing out into america messing up jobs an economy an leaveing mexico barren.an noone would want to go there. what advantages would it be to live in mexico in that case? you would have all the laws an taxes of america, but all the crap of a 3rd world country.
do you know how long it would take to fix up mexico? all the while haywire is happening in america cause of the influx

I think it's a great idea! If borders were opened then there would be alot of advantages! 1. There would be more hard working people over here that are actually willing to work. 2. The people that are married to U.S. citizens could finally join their spouse and live together without worrying about immigration! 3. it would be easier for hispanics to visit their families in Mexico and other countries.*And Numerous other advantages.

No advantages, and unfortunately we have an open border right now. It is costing the lives of hundreds of thousands and taking jobs and money out of our economy, all while driving down wages for legal working residents. Even 3rd world countries dont allow such robbery.

I think it is a putrid idea. Illegal immigration of poor people who use education and other services is already ruining our schools and services for our own people.
I'm sure the drug cartels would agree with you, though. I understand they are starting to shoot at the border patrol out of frustration with increased security at the border.
As to the SPP and Nafta superhighway mentioned above, why should we reorganize our country and give up our worker and education protections to let the superrich reap even higher profits?

There is no advantages. Just ask anyone in the UK who was born there and are now second class citizens in their own country.
