A friend's b/f died, or so we thought. He is in a high security work environment and apparently his 'death' was staged for security reasons. My friend was channelling, saying she was getting this/that message from him; that he was guiding her, etc. Is it possible to channel when the person was never dead? What, if anything was giving her these messages, or do you think they were just things she WANTED to hear? I'm very perplexed; don't believe in channelling, but my friend is very head-strong when it comes to this sort of thing. I think she truly needs counselling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My friend also says her b/f was encouraging her to do things (from the beyond). I knew her b/f extremely well and do not agree with her statement at all. Imagine her reaction when he finally gets to see her, and his response to all he supposedly encouraged or told her to do. He'd diss it in a split second. When discussing these things with her, she's adamant that he's telling her to do things.

A lot of people - when they loss a loved one - are completely and utterly desperate to talk to them one last time.
Which leads them to try and channel the dead.
I have never see this work. And I mean really work, not just tricks and wishful thinking.
Your friend must have loved him very much to go through all this. Most likely, she tricked herself into thinking that he was really talking to her - guiding her from beyond the grave. Some might say she has really contacted an evil spirit, or some such thing - but I believe she is causing these answers herself.
She needs to talk to someone. Grieving is a very important step, and so is letting go. When he comes back to her - there's going to be a lot of strife. She's going to feel betrayed and tricked, and only time, love and patience is going to help them work through it. She's also going to have to comfort these 'sessions', and understand that she really wasn't contacting him because he wasn't dead.
Support her, stand by her, and help her work through all of this. There's going to be a lot of joy, but also a lot of stress in the next few months - and she's going to need someone there to be a constant help to her.

Something sounds pretty suspicious here.
No companies I know of will stage an employees death. And I doubt very seriously that the government would either, not on a short term basis anyway. Area 51 personnel can spend weeks where they are and then are shipped back home when the project is finished. No "death" is required.
It sounds to me that you two were messing with her mind because neither one of you like what she does and you wanted to teach her a lesson.
Do you really know what they talk about when they are alone? Does he quote their conversations verbatim?
Channeling is a new age synonym for medium-ship. And yes, mediums can pick up thoughts of the living and the dead.
On the other hand her boyfriend (?), knowing what she does, could have knowingly thought these thoughts just to get her off base. She used her skills and picked up these "planted" thoughts.
Either way, it was a cruel way to "play" her, to mess with her emotions (knowing we women do get extremely emotional when we lose a loved one), and to deliberately confuse her. This was despicable, dishonest and untrustworthy.
Some side questions. Did she do the things she was told to do? Were they beneficial?
Just hope she sincerely believes in the Wiccan Rede: "Do as ye will - an harm none," otherwise you two are in for a rough ride.

It's not possible to channel whether the person being channeled is alive or dead. It simply amazes me that people are so willing to accept any crackpot theory about talking to dead people, but have such a hard time accepting evolution and other hard science. people reject the out dated traditional religions but then clamor to wrap their arms around some thing else that is even wackier!

Like all those who have been "visited" by spirits, angels, or god, your friend heard what she wanted to hear.
You can't "channel" living or dead people, you can only try to understand how they would react. Everybody does this all the time when they consider what words are best to say to someone. In fact, you are asking for our help to do just that.
You won't convince her otherwise until she's ready to be convinced. There's not much wrong with her asking herself "what would b/f do" anymore than those who ask themselves "what would Jesus do". Unfortunately, when it goes from that to "b/f (or, for that matter, Jesus) told me to" she can run into problems.
For now, I would try and deal with the symptoms. Try to convince her that any ill advised actions are possibly her misunderstanding.

i think its rubish and if someone wants to believe something so much than they are able to convince themselves into believing it's true. i'd just ignore it if i were you or get her some councelling to bring her back into reality. alot of ppl like this are hard to sway so don't get into fights with her about it, not worth it
