Every time my bf starts up his computer, he gets the following two messages...
Windows cannot find 'C:\SCANNER\EXE16\AM.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click Search.
Then I click ok and get this second message;
Could not load or run 'C:\SCANNER\EXE16\AM.EXE' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.
Now I've ran AShampoo and a number of other proggies to try and shift any registry errors, but it ain't going nowhere. Can anyone help please?
Katie

If you're confident in your ability, click Start | Run, type 'regedit', and click enter.
When the registry editor opens up, click Edit | Find, type 'c:\scanner\exe16\am.exe', click enter. This will find the first registry key that contains that file. Delete it.
Press F3 to find the next instance in the registry. Delete it...and so on and so forth.
If the am.exe file does not exist on your computer, deleting these registry entries should not have any negative consequences. Once you've deleted all of them, you should no longer see the error message.

First, check the Startup folder on your Start menu. If there's a shortcut there for this application, delete it.
Second,
Make sure the application is uninstalled: Control Panel, Add Remove Programs.
If that's not the problem,
1) Click Start, then Run
2) Type "msconfig"
3) Select the Startup tab
4) Look for the application that is trying to run and uncheck the checkbox next to it.
5) apply Changes and restart

You probably have registry errors. Do the following:
1. Start > Run, in the box type "REGEDIT" then hit OK.
2. When the program opens press CTRL + F
3. In the box type "C:\SCANNER\EXE16\AM.EXE" then click FIND NEXT
4. Delete any entries you find under that. Loop this until all entries are removed. (Press F3 to loop the search)

Search for the missing file as instructed.
"To search for a file, click the Start button, then click Search."
Type: am.exe and see if it's on your PC.
If you can't find it, un-install the scanner software and re-install it.

That looks like a program is trying to load, it may be a virus, do a scan and see what happens.
