The Metric System: Should it be considered Satan worship?

As a Brit I have to say that in some cases the metric system is quite useful and in others it's a pain. If the metric system is Satanic then the UK is caught in some sort of purgatory halfway between the two:-

Our kids are taught centimetres and kilometres but our road signs give distance in yards and miles

We buy our groceries by the kilo but in the pub we order beer by the pint

We still weigh ourselves by the stone (1 stone = 14 pounds). I have no idea what I weigh in kilos (or even in pounds unless I use a calculator)

We can buy our petrol (gas) in litres but we discuss mileage in miles per gallon (thats imperial gallons, not US gallons). In fact I cannot think of a metric equivalent of the word "mileage".

I am 6 feet tall and have no desire to know how many centimetres that is

The metric system is not the work of the devil... but it did originate in France and is practiced throughout the European Union (which in many ways makes it far worse)

Obviously you are so far beyond logic and reason that you can't possibly understand something so simple and logical as the metric system. There is nothing inherently evil about multiplying by 10 or 12 or 6 or any other number. To suggest it is would be as ridiculous as saying the earth is flat and that thunder is caused by angels bowling.

I am quite possibly the only American who actually likes the metric system. I wish we would change.

I also dislike daylight savings time.

I know I am weird.

No it's based on 10's. The evil imperial system is based on 6's.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that.

However, I would say that it is an attempt to impose foreign rulers on us. ;)
