I have a friend on methadone due to a herion addiction. Sometimes he is really moody and almost making stuff up in his mind, jealousy and seeing things. Is this normal or not, also because he said his dose goes up and down I had a feeling that it might have some effects on his moodiness. Please help if you have info on methadone. It's all new to me. Thanks

Methadone is used to wean addicts. At first it is given at a high dose multiple times during the day, then decreased slightly.

Alot of things can affect mood. It may be the chemical reaction of the medication inyour friends' system. It could be a reaction with other medications.

Go with your friend to the doctor the next time he has an appointment. Talk to the doctor, let them know the affect that the methadone is having on your friend. They may change the dosage or the drug completely. If you can't get ahold of the doctor, go to your local pharmacy and talk to a pharmacist. They will be able to tell you any side affects and if it's normal for your friend to be acting that way.

Good luck!

Well first there is two varieties of methadone, one is a liquid used for addicts, the opposite in tablet variety for ache. My room mate used to take methadone tablets for decades for his again ache, then it did not paintings anymore and he is on morphine now. You must see a medical professional that makes a speciality of ache to get those medications. My possess opinion of that is that until you're in horrible ache I would not get began on those medications.
