when atheists themselves have yet to crawl out of their parents basement and walk upright on land? When they evolve a backbone and start to become hardworking, productive members of society....then maybe they will get me to convert, but i wont hold my breath.

That is such an easy answer. You can believe in evolution by ignoring gaping holes in the theory and closing your eyes to evidence that proves contrary. The best way to do this is to convince yourself that there cannot be a god. This is the easiest thing to do because it means that you are not accountable for your actions in the least. You can make reality whatever you want it to be. It is a lot easier if you learn this from your parents or college professor (or someone else that you believe is intellegent). You can then insult the intellegence of those "brain washed Christians" and believe that the church is evil and just wants money from you. Of course after you do this, you will need to work hard to convince yourself that you do not feel any guilt for the things you do and somehow get over the fact that human life is a meaningless, empty, shadow of a purpose. Then you can spend a good portion of the 20,000 days or so of your brief existance arguing on Yahoo Answers about things that you don't even believe in.
Duh...it's not that hard!

Many times on here I’ve said the questioner was generalizing about Christians. Now you are generalizing about atheists. I don’t personally know any atheists that fit your description. The ones I know are engineers and scientists. They may be an arrogant lot but they do walk upright.
As to evolution, if you have zero interest in science, in understanding the workings of this magnificent planet, that is entirely your right. But please stop ridiculing those who actually have a sense of curiosity about God’s creation.
I believe that God wants us to understand, so that we can become better caretakers.
It is not a matter of "believing" in evolution, it is a matter of accepting the mountains of evidence that have been compiled over that past several generations. Does the evidence answer all the questions and fit all the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle? No, but it has filled in enough gaps to give a pretty good idea of what the puzzle will look like.

The idea that atheists are the only people who believe in evolution is assinine. The simple fact is that there is signifigant evidence to support the claim that life evolves. The very existances of various species of "man" over time would lend itself to the theroy.
I am a Christian, but I do not believe that all life just "began" or that all human begins were born of 2 -- we would all be deformed by now. Nor do I believe that Noah put 2 of every animal on the earth on to a boat. Can you imagine the size of that boat!
The bible is a nice book of stories written by men to explain things so all people can understand right from wrong, but you can not take every word as it is written.
The idea that life never changes is silly.

If your reason for not believing is evolution has anything to do with your opinion of Atheists that just shows that you are a narrow minded person.
Most Atheists I know do have a backbone, do work hard, and are productive members of society, which is alot more than what I can say for people like you. Out on the streets I have the back bone to tell people like you that you are a waste of space, would you have the backbone to tell me the same thing? I highly doubt that.
And trust me, we don't want you to convert.
And if you really have such a low opinion of Atheists I suggest you stop taking most medications, stop seeing most doctors that can use technology to help you, stop watching most movies with big name actors in them...pretty much stop doing anything other than read the bible.

You can't if you don't see how life has changed. It changes constantly.
Go to the museum and check out how we have evolved into who we are now. Then look around your own world and see the different faces and then think how many people look like that person. Then look at mannerisms. Do we do an act out of animal necessity or a life function. Those will help determine evolution as well.

There is a smaller percentage of atheists in prison then in the rest of the population. This means atheists are less likely to go to prison. So really, we are waiting on theists to start becoming hardworking, productive members of society. But that's okay, we're patient.

Evolution is a process of change in a certain direction. It is used to describe big changes in inanimate things - the development of the universe. It is also used to describe small changes in living things - the way plants and animals adapt to their environment. The main issue here is that evolution is the theory that life arose from inanimate chemicals, formed into self-replicating cells, and slowly developed into more and more complex creatures, with man being the most intelligent of its productions.

Get naked, find some primoridial ooze (good luck) climb into it, then after you cannot hold your breath anymore, crawl out of it and say "tah-dah, I have evolved." Then get cleaned up, put some clothes on for goodness sake, and go home. Have a beer.

Matt, how can you not believe in evolution? How can you deny evidence that you can see and touch? That is what amazes the hell out of me. There is mountains of proof that we evolved. There is no proof that poof there was one man and one woman. Genesis, itself, disproves Genesis. Cain went to Nod where he found a wife.
I believe that God was the big bang and then evolution took over. Do I have proof? NO! There is no proof of how it all started.

You can believe in Evolution, through hard work and dedication, A firm yet tender grip on the nature of the world, and by realising that Darwin came to save you from your sins.
I'll make you an offer, Become an evolutionist, And I'll become a christian.. Whats worth more to you? Your own salvation or mine?
And what would Jesus do?
