My engagement ring was stolen while I was on holiday (I had to take it off due to swollen fingers, my finger went blue) and it was taken from our hotel room. We have claimed on the insurance so have money to buy a new one, so my question is this, would you go for the same design as the original or would you go for something totally different?

Personally, I would leave that upto my fiancé to decide... What if he bought you that specific ring because it reminded him of you? Maybe he picked it for a special reason, if not, then pick out a new one if it's what you really want.

First, I would check with my fiancé before making a hasty decision that could upset him.

Hope this helps.

Well you have a choice. For sentimental reasons you could get the exact same ring as he proposed with (I know if I lost mine it would break my heart) however, now is the time for you to get something different if you weren't that thrilled with your old one or you saw something you'd prefer to have instead. It's really up to you, but if it were me - since I picked my own ring and obviously love it very much - I would get the same ring - it has so much sentimental value, more so than the actual monetary value - that I'd never want a replacement. Good luck and glad you didn't have to pay for a new ring out of pocket.

I think it depends.

If the ring was designed for you then definitely have the jeweller make you an identical one.

If it was chosen for you and you've never really liked it that much then sure - this is a nice discreet way of choosing onethat really suits you with your intended.

But if you chose it in the first place or if it was chosen for you and it was perfect why change? No harm in having a look though - new designs come out all thetime and you might just find one even nicer.

Depends how much you liked the first one. If you really liked the design, then go for the same one, but if you see one you like just as much then go for it.
The only thing would be that if it was your fiance that chose the last one, and you go for something completely different this time, might he not think you didn't like the one he chose?

if i liked the original design then id keep it. unless i really hated it, go for the same style- more sentimental value. do you want to look down at your engagement ring and think of the time the original got stolen?

Kind of hard to tell it would be in your heart to decide that if he gave it to you as gift or surprise or did you both pick out .
Is wrong how they stolen your ring . but leave it in lord hand
is not the same but go with your heart if it meant a lot go for it you right it would feel the same. god bless

I guess it depends on the circumstances surrounding your original one. I personally would go for an exact replica of my original because my man chose it all on his own and so it was a completely personal thing from him to me. If I had chosen the original with him I might be more inclined to choose something different.

I would probably go for something completely different as if I had the same one it would remind me of what happened to the other one and the misery it caused (ie getting stolen).

I would ask him to pick you a new one, and let your finace start the process again, down on one knee and everything!!!! Just to make that ring as special as the other!!! So that ring has a meaning to!!!! Good Luck

I absolutely love my wedding set. I would want to find the exact same thing. However, I also know that my exact set was discontinued shortly after my husband bought it. It's very unlikely I'd be able to find it again. So, I'd have to look for something else, and I have no idea what would appeal to me.
