I have to say that it is the fundamentalists that are a thorn in the butt of humanity.
There are many wonderful Christians. Unfortunately, the fundies make you all appear to be idiots.
I believe that God appreciates those of you like Father K, who speak with wisdom and common sense in regards to Him.

I think that might be a little bit unfair. There are members of every demonation of the faith that don't keep up with their Scripture. Catholics are unfortunately targeted for this because so much of Catholicism is based on reciting prayers in mass and out. "Fundamentalists" tend to see this as a sort of brainwashing and memorization as opposed to true knowledge of and faith in God. When they say that Catholics don't know the Scripture, this is what they are referring to, although I am sure they will acknowledge that there are good Catholics who do have a good grasp of the Scripture.
Just think a little deeper and don't automatically be judgemental. I know it is easy to get defensive (especially if you are one of the ones who does know the Scripture), but just try to remember how these people are formulating their opinions. I do not believe this constitutes bearing false witness (although there is Scripture against bearing false witness - it is one of the ten commandments).

Yes there is - you are not to bear false witness to their neighbor.
Have some pity on those that engage in this sort of behavior - they are only parroting what they have been taught by their pastors. Most have never even researched Catholicism or know anything about it that is true.
And most will continue to do this - until they themselves decide that they want to learn what Catholics really are.

Some people just don't know any better, and some refuse to see the truth. You just have to forgive and move on.
Tagan - there is more to faith than the Bible. If Catholics believe some things that aren't in the Bible, that doesn't make them wrong. You will find Old and New Testament comments about tradition, which is completely acceptable.

I do not think it is bearing false withness. It is just ignorance and arrogance.
They are ignorant of what Catholics believe and when I try to explain from Scripture why we believe as we do and practice our faith as we do, they turn to insults.
They cannot accept that they might be wrong in their prejudiced and bigoted statement about Catholics.

Then why are you bearing false witness against Martin Luther, Protestants, and Fundamentalists with your other misleading questions that misrepresent what Protestants teach and believe?
You seem to be slandering Martin Luther and Protestant Fundamentalists by deliberately mis-characterizing what we teach and believe.
You hypocrite, take the beam out of your own eye, then then you might see clearly enough to take the speck out of your brother's eye (Matthew 7:3-5).

I don't know about false witness, but it is all down to interpretation. You see it the Catholic way and the Fundamentalists see the their way. Doesn't mean that either of you are correct.

Jesus is the only mediator between man and God...not priests...also
2 Timothy 4:3& 4: "3Â For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4Â and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories."
