go to constructive play things-everything there is like $1!!! hawiian punch is a necesity, seven year olds will definetly like that. when opening presents, have them sit around in a circle holding the gift that they brought. play hawiian music and when the music is playing pass them around...when it stops, the present your child is holding he/she opens it. i loved this as a child. when the kids walk in give them a flower necklace. have the kids also bring towels to sit on to get the beach-vibe.
hope you all have a blast

I had a tropical birthday for my daughter when she turned 8. Her b-day is in Jan. so I did it at the pool in a nice hotel. All the guests got a lei when they showed up. I put a different color table cloth on each of the tables. I tied tropical-themed balloons to plastic flamingo wine glasses that were filled with ju-ju fish. I wrapped a lei around the bottom of the stem, so it really didn't even look like a wine glass. Since we couldn't do a pinata, I gave all the children small individual pinatas filled w/ candy & toys. My daughter wore a grass skirt when she wasn't in the pool. I had planned some other games but the kids never wanted to get out of the pool do any. Everyone had a great time. HAVE FUN!

Get them some paper leis and they all love hula dancing so get some Hawaiian music and some grass or paper skirts. You can get coconut halves for food and drinks and serve Hawaiian style foods like coconut cake and tropical punch. Sounds like fun.
Maybe get a Pinata (not Hawaiian but fun).
You can buy all the stuff from Ebay

What a great idea!
You can decorate with palm trees, fish, and flowers. Hang tropical colored streamers. Hang up beach towels.
For games, you can do the limbo, tug-of-war, play freeze dance to tropical music, play flamingo ring toss. If you have a kiddy pool, get some plastic fish and attach a paper clip to them. Make some fishing poles with magnets for them to fish with. You can draw a picture of a palm tree and cut out some “coconuts” using brown construction paper to play pin the coconut on the palm tree. You can also find some grass skirts and a hula dancing video for them to follow (or learn some moves yourself and be the dance instructor:)
You can have them make their own flower leis. Use pre-cut paper flowers, artificial flowers, or you can use carnations (Cheap and easy to use). You can also have them decorate sand dollars with paint or glitter glue.
For food, hollow out a watermelon (or use shells) and fill it with cut up fruit. Children at that age love pizza. Make it easy on yourself and get some Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple). The first link I’ve provided below has some great things for luaus. You can get the coconut cups and fill them with Hawaiian punch or any type of tropical fruit juice. Find some fish ice cube trays for their drink. You can also get a hula girl cake.

how fun!!! you could get one of those lighted palm trees, a recording of steel drum music, some parrot cut outs and paper lei's. get a fresh pineapple and make a boat out of it. fill it with lots of fruit. grill some hot dogs for lunch and have tropical punch with little fruit cocktail skewers and little paper umbrellas.it's going to be great. the kids will love it.
