Hi,

I am concerned for you and it is very dangerous to rely on getting an answer here. You must see your Doctor. It may be absolutely nothing serious but it is best to get it checked out by a professional.

Ulcers usually don't cause diarrhea. Typical pain for an ulcer is just below the chest bone in your stomach. Some foods can trigger the pain. There are over the counter medication now for stomach problems. Prilosec, Prevacid, Maloox are good ones. There is always tums & Rolaids for heart burn.

I am not sure if it is an ulcer or not because the description of your pain was vague. There are alot of different stomach pains that are caused by different things. For example, gallstones/gallbladder problems. The pain is on your right upper side of stomach or can be mid stomach.& you have right shoulder blade pain with it.

If you have tried one of the over counter medication listed above and it didn't help. I suggest you see a doctor. There is a blood test called H Pylori that your doctor can do to determine it is a ulcer.

I went through the same thing and "thought" it might just be the flu, I found out it was an ulcer. Go see a Doctor just to be sure. Let them know you think you might have an ulcer. Ulcers can be brought on by many things, including bacteria in your stomach. Some people are more susceptible to bacteria than others. You can get bacteria from a variety of things, fast foods, bagged lettuce mix, anything. Don't put this on hold, see a Doctor, ulcers can get worse and may even cause bleeding.

Better to be safe than sorry as that ol' adage says. If it is an ulcer, that needs to be taken care of right away as it can become a bleeding ulcer (if that's not the case already). Please do call your physician and talk to him or her about it in case you do have an ulcer which is basically a sore that I believe can be corrected with medications such as the proton pump inhibitors such as prilosec, prevacid (I use this one for gastric reflux), nexium (that little purple pill ;), or protonex.

Your dr may also refer you to a gastroenterologist which is a specialist in digestive disorders which (just fyi) can include the liver, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine (colon is part of it) for further evaluation. I have colitis which is an inflammation of the colon and also have gerd or the reflux that I mentioned so I take the prevacid and also asacol for the colitis. So, yes, I would definately look into your persistent pain in the stomach region and asap!

It could be an ulcer. Does this just happen when you eat certain foods or everytime you eat? I would start taking some meds like Prilosec OTC or Zantac and see if that helps. You just dont want it turning into a bleeding ulcer if infact thats what it is. I would go see a Dr. and find out.

although the history you gave is not much of help to deduce if you do have an ulcer, but the cardinal symptom of pain after eating is indicative of duodenal ulcers though i dont see how diarrhoea may cause it. but it is advisable that you see a doctor and have a full check up done.

You need to see a doctor, ( as stated above)

could be Lactose Intolerance, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or worse a Hiatal hernia.

Lay off the caffiene, don't smoke, stay away from spicy food, try taking Zantac twice a day, see a doctor.

1) Constant Pain SHOULD mean that you see a doctor, not how many strangers suggest you see one.

2) Is it an ulcer? Maybe. Is it something else? Maybe. We're not doctors. We don't know your other signs and symptoms. We don't know your history.

No this is probably not an ulcer. YOu do need to see the doc though as to what is causing your pain.

Here is the only correct answer:

Go to the doctor regardless of what anyone here tells you.
