Both cover bodily injury.
If an accident occurs, the other driver has responsbility and I only have the PIP... is that enough for me? Or should I buy the UMBI also?

THANKS!

You should buy PIP. PIP pays for your medical bills and (sometimes) lost wages regardless of fault. The way any bodily injury coverage works is payment for your pain and suffering as a result of someone else's negligence, but it does NOT pay your bills. UMBI is uninsured motorist bodily injury and it pays you if the other person at fault has no insurance. Your own insurance steps in as if they were that responsible party's carrier and settles with you. If you have PIP then your bills get paid while you are waiting to settle your bodily injury claim.

Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury protects you if you are hit by someone who doesn't have insurance. Your insurance would pay for your medical. You should also consider Uninsured Motorist property damage. This would protect your vehicle and pay for damages to it if the person who hits you doesn't have insurance.
