NiCad batteries do have the "memory effect" where they seem to remember the duration of the last use cycle. The cycles do get shorter with re-use.

Sometimes NiCad life can be "reset" by running them completely down, then fully recharging. I have had some where I had to leave them on the charger for a week before they would hold a reasonable charge again.

If you are able to get them working reasonably well again, always wait until they are fully discharged before recharging. Do Not "top them off". Then you can keep the lifespan from getting shorter.

If you have to replace them, try to get NiMH or Lithium rechargables.

Good Luck

They do have memory, but this is also a sign that it is time to buy a new battery. As they are fading from glory, they will barely hold a charge at all.

The NiCad batteries are probably undesirable in the event that they gained't cost. Their charging cycles are lesser than lithium ion or NiMH. yet while this is working, toss the NiCads interior the trash and use the NiMH batteries. NiCad batteries suck besides.

it has built its memory. all nicads will build a memory if not fully discharged before charging. if you use nimh batteries they do not build a memory ever. you can buy them from wal mart or anywhere.
