My boyfriend and I were discussing this today and neither of us knew why. I have had cats my whole life and never really thought about it before, but all of them do it.

Cats have different eyes than humans do. Their depth perception, the way they see colors, and the location of the eyes is different.

Cats use their hearing as well as their eyesight to locate things of interest - whether it be you speaking to it, a toy mouse, or if they hear a noise outside and are trying to figure out what it is.

Cats also have "expressions" just like humans do. If you've watched your cat, their expression at ease is very different from scared or upset.

It doesnt sound solid, I haven't any theory what that is, yet i comprehend there isn't something worse than having a ill cat, i could be soo scared if any of my 4 have been given ill. flow back to the vet and insist to renowned, adn say you payed to plenty for not something.

They do it purely to hear us ask "Why do cats turn their heads at an angle when they look at you?"...

But seriously... maybe it has something to do with their hearing? Or maybe it's just because they are trying to figure out what we are saying.?!?!?!?

I think it's a classic feline expression of snubbing you for not getting their way immediately. Just an opinion, probably wrong.

They turn their heads that way to get you to start asking why they do it... then they walk away leaving you puzzled meanwhile the cat pisses all over your couch and your carpet.
if you want your cat to stop doing that (turning its head) i suggest a neck brace.

They turn their heads because they are tuning into the sound of your voice...dogs do it too...owls do it all the time..

I've heard people say that they do it because they are wondering about us and how we act also.
