I got my kitten from a friend (few doors away) when she was 9 weeks old. 4 weeks after this I had to spend a day/night away, so asked my friend if she could look after kitty. When her mother (cat) saw her, she came running up to her and started to lick her. Later she bought food and left it outside the room that my friend kept the kitten in! However, several weeks later when I visited with kitty, the mother cat initially showed an interest, but then completely ignored her.
My cat also showed no sign of remembrance.

Once kittens are weaned, the mother cat takes very little interest in them, and unless they then live together for a bit of time after weaning, they don't miss each other when they are separated. Obviously, when cats (whether siblings or not) live together for a while, they should eventually form a bond, and will probably miss each other if they are separated. I don't know if its if they just miss the company, though, or if they miss the actual cat that is gone. (Does that make sense?) I have 2 cats from the same litter, but got my little girl a couple of months after I got her brother, and by the amount of hissing and growling that went on for the first two weeks, they definately didn't remember each other!

Hi, I have a cat and we used to live with my parents who have two cats. I take my cat back there every 3 or 4 months and that cats still remember each other. Hope this helps.

eventually the cat will forget its family. At first the cat might be a bit quiet and calm if he/she is sad but they will come to forget it it might take about 3-4 days the most would be about a week

My cats and my mothers cats have been seperated for about 2 years and do not remember or even like each other. They may grow to like each other again, but so far there has been no progress

My cat's brother went missing for six months after escaping his cat box on the way to the vets. We got him back and he knew exactly where the food bowl was in the kitchen and apart from a bit of initial disbelief his bro recognised him immediately. I was back to playing referee when they fought for alpha male status (play fights that got out of hand).

i had 2 cats, brothers, from the same litter. one died when they were bout 4 and the other one "pined" at the window for a day, about a week after the dead one went missing.
the live one (simon) promptly forgot about his missing brother (dave) and carried on as normal! this took about 10 days from when dave went missing.
my flat mate's cat was their mum. we all lived together until my cats were about 1. when we moved away from their mum they showed no sign of distress. i dont think cats think like that..

My cat and her kitten lived together for 13 years, and I don't even think they remembered they were family at that point... even without separation.
