I'm talking with a few different Catholics right now via email, and I showed them from the Bible why the Peter wasn't the first Pope, why infant baptism and/or sprinkling is unbiblical, and some other Catholic beliefs that are unbiblical, and several of them got mad and quit emailing me. Why is it? Can they not handle the QUOTING of scriptures directly from God's Word?
If not, what is it?

TO FATHER K:
Your scripture is faulty... I even looked up some of them, (Acts 2:39 for example) and it does not support the statement you made for those scriptures. Try reading up on it a little more before responding.

TO WOLF: I quote all scripture in context from the KING JAMES BIBLE OF 1611.
All scripture is quoted exactly and directly, bar none.

When is the last time you saw a Catholic actually reading a bible?
They were told that they were too dumb to understand it for so long that they might have begun to believe that lie too.
Even priests can't stand to look at it as though they were scared of it.
It doesn't surprise me as I studied their "history" "en masse." (in depth).
Having some of my own relatives go into the priesthood and the convents, one thing that was never required of them to study whatsoever, was the bible.
Finances, administration, prayers learned by heart, etc., but not the bible!
And why should they since even if their very lives depended on it, none of their ideas of "mysteries" and "men-made doctrines" can be found in the word of God anywhere.
Does that answer your question?
My question would be more in the line of... "what is it that they really mean when they say: "I'm a good Catholic!" I've never yet figured that one out... since not one has ever given me the same answer twice.

All religions have their beliefs, and their faults. I was raised Catholic, but switched when I got older, as I didn't believe everything the Catholic religion believed. I also don't believe that you can just Quote scripture. You can't just pull a sentence out of the Bible and say "this is what it means" you have to take the whole story in context. You also have to remember the Catholics don't use the King James Bible, their Bible has 5 additional books in it. You also can't condemn someone for their beliefs, that is why it is called FAITH. What does it matter who the first Pope was, and what does it matter how you are baptized, as long as you believe what the Bible is trying to teach. Which is love for your fellow human beings, taking care of your enviroment, taking care of each other, and most of all understanding each other.

The Catholic church can trace it's history all the way back to Peter. Where, in any translation of the bible does it say that Peter was NOT the first pope? For that matter, where does the bible ever mention a pope at all. The only instructions I've ever seen in the bible referring to church leaders are in James, and mention deacons and bishops. In case you forgot, or were never told, all Christian denominations have their roots in the Catholic church. The divisions have occurred through arguments over theology and practices.
I was raised as a Catholic, but am not practicing. I don't believe in everything the Catholic church teaches, Are you trying to have a legitimate discussion? or are you trying to convert them all to your way of thinking?
And apologize to Father K. He gave you more scripture to justify baptism than you could ever hope to contradict. He obviously knows what he's talking about. I'm not the sure you do.

Christ did not say, "Sit down and write Bibles and scatter them over the earth, and let every man read his Bible and judge for himself." If Christ had said that, there would never have been a Christianity on the earth at all, but a Babylon and confusion instead, and never one Church, the union of one body. Hence, Christ never said to His Apostles, "Go and write Bibles and distribute them, and let everyone judge for himself." That injunction was reserved for the Sixteenth Century, and we have seen the result of it. Ever since the Sixteenth Century there have been springing up religion upon religion, and churches upon churches, all fighting and quarreling with one another, and all because of the private interpretation of the Bible.
Christ sent His Apostles with authority to teach all nations, and never gave them any command of writing the Bible. And the Apostles went forth and preached everywhere, and planted the Church of God throughout the earth, but never thought of writing.
It is Divine Faith alone by which we give honor and glory to God, by which we adore His infinite wisdom and veracity. That adoration and worship is necessary for salvation.

Another sad example of the flaws of personal interpretation. You see, you didn't tell these Catholics what the Bible actually says on these issues. You told them how you interpret particular verses to create the appearance of support for your manmade traditions. This is why the Bible itself tells us that Scripture is not for personal interpretation. The Bible also tells us that the Church Christ founded - the Catholic Church - is "the pillar and foundation of truth". Any structure, removed from its pillars and foundations, weakens and eventually collapses. You are trying to construct truth apart from the pillars and foundation which support the truth, give it shape, and keep it pure and strong. Have you noticed that your tradition is filled with conflicting beliefs from one manmade denomination to the next? Do you know that conflicting beliefs mean false beliefs, since truth cannot conflict with truth? How would you expect a member of the one true Church Christ founded for all mankind, which has taught the fullness of truth in unity for 2,000 years, to be interested in the private unauthoritative guesses of some member of an unauthorized manmade tradition, regarding a book that actually belongs to the Catholic Church, which compiled the book at the end of the 4th Century for its own use, whose early leaders wrote the New Testament texts, and which is the sole authorized interpreter of its own writings? To the leaders of the Catholic Church Christ said "whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven". Did Christ say that to you? Did Christ ever tell you, "he who hears you hears Me"? He did make that very promise to the first bishops of the Church He founded.

You know it's that kind of behavior that created division in the church. I consider myself a non-denominational Christian and I'm currently attending an episcopal church.
I wish I could find the exact verse....
Can a foot say I want to be a hand now? Can the hand say I want to be an eye now?
Each part of the body has a purpose each form of worship our God touches and reaches different people. How about instead of attacking issues of human doctrine try increasing the knowleged of those who haven't heard yet.

Why do you think the Bible is the God's word, it was written by men,
If Peter wasn't the first Pope, no problem, but he was an apostle and with Jesus the founder of the Christian religion.(Catholic).

I doubt it's because they can't handle it.
Perhaps it's because you are assuming that you understand their faith and of course assume that it is unbibical.
Catholics get bashed a lot - many are verbally abused on a daily basis by Non-Catholic 'Christians', who have absolutely no concept of their faith.
What you need to do is stop picking the Catholic faith apart. What you are having is not a conversation with Catholics, you are talking at them, not with them.
Go educate yourself and figure out why Catholics believe what they do. http://www.newadvent.com is a good site, that outlines Catholic theology. Pick up a book that tells you all about the Catholic faith.
They probably don't want to talk to you because you spend all your time trying to disprove their religion. How would you feel if I talked at you, assumed you were being decieved and then, regardless of anything you said, constantly shoved 'proof' at you to show how wrong you are?
I bet you wouldn't want to talk to me either.
Learn respect.

LOL! All I can say after reading all the responses from my Catholic brothers and sisters is, "Oh yeah!".
Look, go to a few catholic websites and find out what they teach and why. That's what I did and it helped tremendously. No point in staying angry and blowing steam at everyone.
God bless.

Instead of tearing apart others beliefes maybe you should concentrate on your own. There is not a single christian based religion that follows the bible to the letter. They all think they do,but NONE of them do. so quit being a hypocrite ,and worry about your own religion. My guess is that's why they don't talk to you any more. Because you're a egotistical, hypocritical jackass. Any other questions?
