Hey now I am a christian and I know that humans are animals. so don't put all christians in that category. That is a just prejudice. and animals do have souls. Animals protect and nurture us in ways, since we do have civilization it is our responsibility to not destroy the animals. Im no peta freak but I love animals. Any christian that does not think of animals of having souls should reading the christmas story and the donkey. Humans have freewill because we are the ones that sinned. If you read the bible the animals no longer had to obey us after we were kicked from eden and some animals stayed loyal where others were against us.

Humans are animals plus one.
Animals have no "soul" so to speak. They are God's creatures to be loved and protected, but they are not God's children. Humans were created as God's children. Even though biologically we are similar to animals, we also have free will, a gift from God, and the knowledge of Good and Evil (eaten of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil while still in the Garden). The gift of free will gives each man and woman the choice to accept or deny God, just as each child will grow up and have the choice to accept or deny his parents. Animals do not have this choice, and therefore are very different from humans. This is because morals and laws cannot apply to creatures with no free will.

Because they fail miserably to deal with reality. We eat, defecate, reproduce, have hair and limbs ... just like any other ape. Apparently, our brain to body ratio and extended frontal lobe development have made us smarter than other animals, although dolphins, apes, elephants and whales appear capable of communication and planning for future events, etc.
What offends me most about the Western idea that humans are the whole reason for existence is that they use it as an excuse to treat other beings with contempt and abuse, as if they are nothing but toys. There is no humility in such a religious concept. Only the most gigantic arrogance.

in a fact you r right . we are the same as animals . we are both born with a sole . just some of us are separated when we get the gift from Jesus. witch is the gift of the holy spirit.
then they are not only separated from animals but also from the humans that could not understand what god wants from us or even that he is there .
1 thing you want to get right in the 100 years of your life.
you r dead allot longer than you r alive.
u none believers amaze me . why?
all that Jesus asks of you is to love 1 another and give to those less fortunate than your self . and believe in him.
as far as the commandments of GOD most of them are covered by the law any way.
So for you who cant believe or not willing to try . i feel so much sorrow for you and hope that GOD reviles him self to you as he has me.
MY GOD BLESS US ALL

Cause you are crazy, it has nothing to do with religion. I believe in evolution but human beings have evolved beyond the mental capacity of animals

christians believe humans are superior to animals, and somehow humans have spirits/souls and animals do not. I believe animals and humans are equals, even though they have a problem with that belief.

Your statement is incomplete. Humans are biologically animals. But humans are not merely biological beings. Humans also have a spiritual nature that animals do not have. You don't have a human being unless you have a mortal biological nature combined with an immortal spiritual nature. Therefore the statement "humans are animals" is at best incomplete and inadequate.

They don't believe in evolution and they can't seem to understand the fact that we are animals. As far as I'm concerned we are probably the most barbaric animals.

Because they place themself so high above every other living thing that they can't compare themselves to something else that they consider lower than them. That is the best answer I can think of. I mean come on it's either plante or animalia.
